It appears that the Ford F-150 Lightning is getting a new color option, as evidenced by fresh EV test trucks caught in what appears to be Ford’s Area 51 paint. It’s likely that the new hue will be added to the lineup this Fall, when production of the 2023 Ford F-150 models begins.
We caught two distinct Area 51-colored F-150 Lightnings: A Lariat wearing the 20” Alloy Dark Carbonized Gray wheels, and a Lightning Pro fitted with 18” Machined Wheels with Black High Gloss Pockets.
For comparison, we photographed an Area 51-hued Ford Bronco that was in front of the F-150 Lightning Lariat. The two vehicles were shot seconds apart, from the same vantage point, allowing for a solid comparison of the paint jobs. To our eyes, they look like the same paint, helping to confirm the Area 51 availability on the ’23 F-150 Lightning.
