Tailgate assist on pro? HELP

Tailgate assist should consist of both a torsion rod and opening damper. I filed a misbuilt claim on mine which was approved. I have not installed the torsion bar in mine because it really doesn't do much.

I think I will have to do the same. Mine has none of this. Here are some pictures:

From everything I read it is a lifting assist and nothing to do with opening. so a dampener would not be included.

That's also what I thought it was supposed to me. Mine does nothing to help with lifting. I recall a video of someone showing this, but cannot remember what video

Every review Ive seen of the Pro shows the tailgate slamming normally. My sticker shows same thing, but I honestly think it’s just the hidden torsion bar that does nothing pretty much. I bet it’s not missing.
This is what I ordered. Reviews are good with people who have installed it. It’s hidden behind tail light.

have you confirmed this fits the lightning? this sounds like a good use of the $210 ford credits

Dampening and assist are 2 different things. Dampening slows it on the way down, assist has a torsion bar to make it feel lighter when you close it.

The funny thing is, the tailgates with the torsion bar are only produced on the line that assembles the tailgate with the step in it. If you don't have the tailgate step you can't even install the torsion bar. The internals are completely different.

It seems Ford's left hand doesn’t known what the right hand is doing.

haha intersting; good info! You physically can't install it or it'll never reach the line to get installed? if they send the parts I'll take do it myself if it can be done. If it cant then I'll take the options that others have shown

The damper from the ICE truck will work. After all, the PRO and XLT use the same tailgate as the ICE trucks.

I ordered the part number confirmed to fit by another member who installed it on A Pro. So here’s hoping!

This is correct. I have approval to do mine but it requires too much..such as driver side bracket which does not have the mounting holes for torsion rod saddle inside the gate. It would also have to be painted. It was just too much trouble.
