I got my setup ordered, here’s what I went with:
  • 2.3” leveling kit from Stage3Motorsports (thanks to you for the recommendation)
  • Anthem Off-Road Rogue 17x8.5 +0mm offset wheels
  • Nitto Recon Grapplers LT285/75R17 Tires
this is going on my 2022 F150 Lightning Lariat with Max Tow Package

How is the ride quality on a 75 sidewall compared with stock? Is it more plush?

Depends. Generally yes for sure! That’s with the factory tire pressures

I’m assuming your mean 22” wheels? For me it’s simply preference. I prefer more tire than wheel for both looks and functionality. I found that tire prices varied a lot depending on brand obviously but also the popularity of the tire size. More popular sizes are made en mass whereas less used sizes tend to cost more due to economies of scale is my guess
I remember the lightning platinum with 22-in wheels saying that it gave best mileage.

Could you drop them in here too? I'm looking for all the help I can get. I did note that Stage 3 suggests swapping struts from side to side in the video's comments which seems handy.

Biggest thing I did to make install easy was not to mess
With the upper control arms. I removed the lower control arms AFTER MARKING THE LOCATION OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM BOLTS. Then knocked out the tie rod ends to free up some space to wiggle out the suspension components. It was pretty easy to ease them out and back in. Note* the install of the. Stage 3 spacer will result in the coils to be rotated 180* which is by design I was told by the folks at stage 3. installing the lower control arm bolts to the marked location resulted in almost perfect alignment. Almost but a realignment is highly recommended.

How about the cornering? Not "wobbly", or at least not too much more than normal?

There is a noticeable difference on any vehicle dropping down to 17" rims from 20 or 22. Softer ride but less stability. Economy also suffers.

I wish there was a try before I buy option available to me. I like the idea of 17s, and there's some tasty Method and Brink wheels that fit, but I am not up for (much) sloppier handling.

I can get the tire I want (275/65R20) just sticking with 20s and it'll be 'enough' sidewall for what I do. Might just have to go that route despite 17s looking fantastic.
