I dropped into a local dealer for my 10K service and to update my module. They told me that they couldn't perform any service because the active safety recall for the Light Bar would have to be finished first (a week or so to inspect / order parts). They wouldn't even push a module update.

I ended up having to use an affiliated Quick Lane to do the service. Not sure if anyone else has run into this, but a heads up if you have the rear light bar they're going to want to hold the vehicle.

Our of curiosity, what was the active safety recall? Windshield wipers?

He mentioned light bar but in Canada it's not a show stopper, the wipers are though.

I had my 10K service and the lightbar replaced at the same time. However, that may have been before the lightbar "officially" became a recall, I'm not 100% sure.

Yah, it's the Rear Light Bar Recall, and they didn't have the parts on hand to do it for a few days. It is slightly frustrating since I scheduled the service online. I don't expect much from Ford when it comes to life cycle sustainment and IT solutions, but it would have been nice if they could have processed my VIN and had parts ready versus waiting for me to come in for an appointment only to say they need to hold the truck 3 to 5 days while parts ship.

It could be just this dealer but they're one of the largest in the state.

They don't have the parts for the lightbar until Q4...

I have never heard of holding an owned vehicle for repairs.

Neither have I, and I specifically brought that up with the service rep. What he had to say was that there is still an inspection they're required to do. Maybe it's local policy? He wouldn't even push the BCF-DET update for me.

I'm driving back to my home in a few days and will call and see what they can do there.

It's due to an actual recall however Ford states: Ford has not issued instructions to stop driving your vehicle under this safety recall.

So, in this case, the dealer is ill informed about the light bar recall.
Yes, I know. I have never heard of a dealership saying "we can't repair your truck AND we need to hold it for the recall". Parts aren't available until Q4.

I just took my truck in and they did both recalls in addition to the speaker replacement I was in for.

the New light bar seems to have little weep holes to allow moisture to escape

I'm jealous everyone's dealer was willing to help them out. They straight up gave me a hard no and told me to go elsewhere. And I was a paying customer, now I'm curious about why. Well, I got my tires rotated so I guess my 10K service is complete. I'll just wait until the new light bars are in this fall/winter to finish the recall.

Just had mine in for the 10k service yesterday. They have the wiper motor and light bar on order. No issues with performing the service. I think your dealership is being a little too conservative on recall items.

I'd say it's time to look for another dealer. Mine has been pretty good.

I don't understand the logic of forestalling preventative maintenance for lack of parts to perform recall work, this dealership needs an education from the regional rep ASAP!
