FWIW I was able to update fine for about an hour using a single 20A Clore. I would recommend, if you’re doing that, to have it charge up your battery with the truck off in charging mode first until it’s 95% or more complete. Then switch it to PS mode.

And during programming keep an eye on the voltage drop. If it gets into the 10.x volt range, take a break and recharge the battery again before the next set of updates.
Perzackly. Well said!

Thank you for documenting your update so well. I consider this option every so often (using the mongoose loaner option) but it would be nice to get by with just one Clore. Do you think if you would have spaced the updates out and allowed the Clore to charge the battery to 100% in between updates this would have worked? Are you able to monitor amp draw and voltage well enough to know you would have needed 2 even starting at 100%? Hope these questions make sense. EDIT: Posted at same time as Matt above, same question roughly!!
I can only monitor the voltage, but I never dropped below 12.1v and I did a lot of updates. I have read people getting by on a single clore, so you may be fine assuming your battery is fully charged between longer updates. I did 2 because some say the draw can be over 30a at times. Keep in mind this was my first time doing this, so I'm still a beginner.

FYI, if you are part of the CSP-23B57 for High Voltage Battery Notice and are one of the unlucky few, updating to the latest BECM will impact you. My truck was running fine before the updates, but the update allowed it to identify a problematic cell in one of my modules. It now throws an error and the battery health tests confirms the cell with the issue. You can't charge your battery unless you clear the error, so it may be better to let the dealer do that update if you are concerned. My truck still runs, but is in reduced power mode. WIll be dropping it off at the dealer next week.

You can charge with the fault but only to 70% I believe
So this could be a bit of a "gotcha" for folks who go to the dealer to get the CSP done, and then end up having to wait for parts and a service appointment as a possible outcome. Well it's better to know you have a problem so it can get addressed.

@Ford Senior Master can check me on this, but if someone goes to a dealer for this CSP and have the update done and then get the fault, the dealer should not release the vehicle. The fault is referenced as part of the CSP necessitating action and dealers shouldn't be releasing vehicles with active faults no matter what

So before you go to the dealer for this CSP (cue cliffhanger sound effect), you should clean out the back seat, cargo area, and glove box in case your truck will be there a while?

If the fault is present the customer will have been contacted by Ford supposedly. The vehicle would not be released if the code was present until repair. It does not stop the code from occurring.

Did you ever check your battery health using OBD-II before this? My battery health is down to 98%. I am trying to see if there is a correlation between the two.

ICE trucks started getting a new GWM OTA about a week ago. The OTA version is 6.1.0 and 6.2.0.....there are two of them. It is believed to be precursors for BC 1.3 for our trucks.

Looks like this is 6.1.0 and downloading OTA. Nice to see it coming OTA so quickly after being posted on FDRS.

That's how it should be.
