Makes me think the $39,990 base price in 2019 is what caused ford to announce the same price, which allowed me to get my PRO at a great price($46,972). So basically Tesla screwed ford with their original pricing. But helped some of us get a great truck....thanx Elon!

I think the all wheel drive model is at least competitive with a Lariat ER, not my thing, but I can see the value there. Until the Flash trim is released in 2024 that is.....
at first glance but once someone sits in it, they'll realize the Lightning is a full size where the cybertruck is more comparible with the Ranger.

Kinda like this forum back when we found out the cheapest extended range option was going to be $75k....except worse.
All the salty tears about pricing make me happy. “Tesla is different, they’ll undercut everybody on price. 500 miles for everyone!”

Stole this from the CT Forum

"Per the code on the configurator site .. its required to be installed by the service center. So probably not user removable either. So you are just permanently losing 1/3rd of the bed"

Interesting concept. I can see some enterprising aftermarket company building this kind of bed mounted range extender for the Lightning. Personally I think I’ll wait until my ER battery dies and then replace it with a 600 mile solid state battery that should be available by then.

Yeah, that was a pipe dream and we all knew it.

Uhhh, wtf is with those torque numbers?

7,435 lb-ft or 10,296 lb-ft?

When our ERs are putting down 775 I'm pretty sure that ain't right...
They are quoting wheel torque not motor torque, so you have the gear box multiplying it. I think our gear box is 8.3 (not very sure on that number) which would make our compatible number about 6,500.

Probably at the wheel vs the motor output? Just spitballing since most EVs have around a 8:1 fixed gear reduction

I can't understand the appeal of the RWD cybertruck model at $60K. That's a base all wheel drive XLT. And with the XLT you get better 0-60, ever-so slightly worse range, and likely better towing/hauling capacity.
plus a much bigger interior

It’s hard for me to admit but I think there’s one good thing about Tesla, as the CARB and CAFE penalties on ICEs get higher, Ford will be tempted to raise prices on EVs to pay for ICE penalties but they won’t be able to because they have to compete with Tesla which isn’t subject to ICE penalties. It does mean though that if Tesla jacks up their prices, Ford will jack their EV prices. It’s going to be a few years or decades before ICE penalties are no longer part of the price equation.

2023 Lightning Lariat ER
It's pretty good news for us Lightning owners and should support resale value.

CT pros over the Lightning:
- 4wheel steering (more to break?)
- air suspension (nice but also more to break)
- radical looks (for some buyers)
- Tesla software (but I prefer CarPlay)
- 250kW charge speed
- bullet resistant, stronger glass (not sure this is that important to most buyers)

Lightning pros over CT:
- The Lariat trim is actually about $8K less than CT-AWD trim after dealer incentives
- Almost exactly the same perf as CT-AWD
- bigger bed, bigger frunk, bigger interior
- traditional looks (for some buyers)
- big service network
- spare tire standard and in the standard location (under the bed)
- you can actually get one

Better charge speed would be nice but not really a deal breaker since DCFC is a rare occurrence for me. Or, I should say, DCFC when time it important is a rare occurrence. Usually when I'm DCFCing I'm just adding 10-20% to goose my SoC a little for buffer until I can L2 charge or I'm plugging in and going in shopping or something then the charge speed barely matters.
