Lightning is not selling well at my local dealer

Folsom Lake Ford near Sacramento has 42 2023 Lighnings for weeks, all on parking lot and none of them were sold for a while.

I checked several times. In November it listed 43 Lightnings but most of them are one the way but they were all on parking lot since December and seems at most they sold only a few of them.

This is what happens when Ford refuses to improve the product they are trying to sell.

Instead of producing an off-road version, they should have been working hard to get the heat pump in quicker and figuring out how to run battery cells in parallel to take advantage of 800V charging. Same goes for the Mach-E.

This past week I’ve seen some dealers that still do 5k markups on their Lightning inventory and other dealers with discount but then they have forced add ons to get the discount pricing.

Those dealers must have been expecting customers were gonna flood in once the point of sale EV tax credit rebate started. Other dealers hadn’t even heard of this rebate till I asked and others haven’t even applied to process those while having more than 20 available to purchase. Absolute, disaster in the waiting. I’ll be patient to see what happens in Feb for truck month and if no improvement then I will pass on buying a lightning.

Have you been on lot? I find the number suspicious, but more so that all of their inventory is stock photos.

I only checked 2 months ago when they have less than 10 on parking lot. At the time, no stickers are available and no specific pictures there on website and they were in transition. Later on more and more stickers/pictures were posted.

I am quite busy this week and someone could check there.

They also have 97 explorers, 44 escapes, 91 Mach Es and 58 super duty trucks.

This dealer has great inventory from the looks of it.

I wish they had such a selection when I bought mine last year.

My local dealer has 60 f150s and only 3 lightnings.

The local Toyota dealer has 24 tundras on the lot.

The local ram dealer has almost 200 half tons, 159 of which are 5.7 hemis.

why do we even care whether a dealer has 'sold' all of their Lightnings, or any other vehicle? Why does this affect 'us' in any way? I'm not sure I care why the chatter about whether Ford this or Ford that.. I have my truck. It works perfectly.

My dealer has had two no option Pros on the lot since September.

One Platinum significantly discounted that arrived in July and the customer refused purchase, and one XLT.

Other dealers in the area have a larger inventory that has been gathering cobwebs.

My local dealer inventory just went from 38 units to 20. I wonder if they shipped them somewhere? I had my eye on a SR Lariat but it, along with 17 others have disappeared from inventory. Cannot imagine they sold that many so quickly after sitting for a few months. Curious.
