New to the forum, having just bought my Lariat ER this past Friday. Sadly, I think I win the award for shortest time without an issue. I got the Powertrain Malfunction within 24 hours of purchase, along with a parking sensor failure. Dealer confirmed a battery module needed replacing, and quoted 7-10 days for parts. No loaner. Told me they would cover a portion of the rental, but that it had to be a Ford and that I was responsible for all taxes and fees. Gave me the number for Ford Customer Service and they were horrible--read straight from a script telling me they couldn't help, and only the dealer could determine loaner or rental arrangements. I'm pissed. Too soon to initiate the buyback process, considering their standard protocol appears to be denying it the first time around?
Sorry to hear of that kind of experience. Try 1-800-392-3673 and ask for the BEV team. They've been known to get alternate transportation arranged and even pay for gas for a rental while yours is in the shop.

After about a month and a half my buyback has been approved and I received my offer from ford. The offer is way higher than I was expecting so I am 100% taking it. Sounds like I’ll be surrendering it in the next few days.

Now the hunt for a new xlt ER begins. If anyone knows of any great deals please dm me. The closer to SOCAL the better. Right now the best deal I’m seeing is in Texas (17k off before tax credits) so I may be doing a one way flight and roadtrip back home if nothing better pops up.

5/8/24 Update: Got the truck back yesterday (build date 11/2023) after 15 days being in the shop (of the 18 that I've owned it). Cells 56 and 66 were above the maximum voltage. Seems to be running fine now, but I'm not confident with the long term.

we've been without our truck (23 lariat er) since mid-February... It is a parts shortage for a battery cooling valve, and we still don't have a estimate date as to when it will be available. Love the truck and the dealer has been great... But can't really use the loaner as our own truck and it's becoming really frustrating...

2023 XLT ER took the dreaded dump with 7k miles on April 29th. It's now may 12th and the parts that ordered are back ordered until the end of the month. Currently in an ice f150 rental Ford is paying for. Not expecting too much as I think my truck will take months to fix. I'm I correct that we cannot lemon law the truck is they are providing a rental? Anyway to stop making payments while the truck is in service for an extended amount of time.

No, think of it this way, the financial arm of FORD is distinct from the production, sales and service.

More so when a third-party financial institution is servicing your obligation, they bear no responsibility for the product warranty/service.

Well we definitely should be able to calculate the monies paid under lemon law buyback if it comes to that.

Buyback is a horse of another color, but still the finance company having a first lien will be paid its dues one way or another

Did you have a Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power situation? Any battery modules replaced?
Yes. That's the error message we received... and the power reduction on the dash at the time was in the 70% range if I remember correctly...

Since then, so far no mention of any cell issues... just that a valve in the battery cooling system was showing a fault... and we are waiting on the part.

Another week, and still no estimated date for the part...

Well... I woke up this morning with a nice surprise and didn't feel confident about going to work this morning.

It charged last night to my normal 90%, and this morning I went to remote start (like I always do). I had issues with that EVSE in the past, but noticed it didn't have an error, although the truck did (red ring). I restarted the EVSE, still the same. I then tried another EVSE, and it still gave an error. I then stopped by the dealer (~10 minutes away), and now I am just waiting.

A few minutes after I arrived at the dealer, I saw my max power being reduced to 57%, and I then received a Powertrain malfunction/Reduced Power on my Ford App.

They seem pretty cool, and this will be their 4 module replacement. In fact, they are getting done on wrapping up another FL150L with the same issue as mine. However that was module 5 vs module 8.

They said it will be in the shop for at least 2 weeks... most of which is getting the parts from Ford. I wanted to keep the truck at home so it can be "safer" while waiting for parts, but they need the vehicle for testing and etc.

As I explained in another post, they didn't have a loaner available so the BEV team and the dealer said they could honor a $45 credit for non-truck, and a $60 truck rental coverage. The catch is that it needed to be a Ford. The funny thing though is that there were no Ford vehicles to rent (from Enterprise or Hertz). So I went home without a rental, and used their shuttle service.

As mentioned before, the service advisor told me that they are completing another F150L module replacement, and it should be done Friday. So there is a chance that I could possibly pick up a loaner by then, however thats not guaranteed.

I hate to say it though, but I kind of lost my faith in the truck. We were planning on going on a long trip to NH in June, but now I am not sure. I do an average of 120 miles during the week, and recently over 200 miles on the weekend. I don't feel comfortable driving that now. Especially since the issue just happened overnight when the truck was charged to my normal 90%.
