Mine did the opposite and showed no drive modes a couple times but quickly recovers and hasn't happened in a long time.

That happened to me once. It corrected itself before I had the chance to get a photo.Despite the truck's protests, I don't think this is normal. It certainly is not sport, off road or tow haul.
