Simple device to check battery state, KEWIG Car Charger, Dual QC3.0...give both a simple color read or actual volts if you get up close

Is the cigarette lighter plug "on" when the truck is off? When the truck is on it's charging the LVB, so you'd just see what the charging voltage is, not the resting voltage of the battery.

I have something similar that's gives me voltage 2 sockets and 2 USB outlets..

When the truck is turned on the display shows 14.4 volts drops to approx 12.6 when turned off. Then eventually several minutes later powers off completely.

Do we know if any of the assorted USB outlets remain hot for phone or flashlight charging?

I've seen them stay on for a while after turning off and exiting the truck...but not sure how long, I'm curious now so I'll have to do a test and see, then edit post.

The USB seems to turn off approx 60 seconds after turning off the truck and opening&closing the door and locking the truck.

Just checked the other cigarette lighter socket on the dash.

The cigarette lighter socket stays on when the truck is off for at least 5 minutes (I got tired of waiting for it to go off longer than that).
--
After unlocking the truck but before pushing the power button the USB is energized for about 60 seconds, then goes off if the power button is not pressed.

I have a 2023 Pro, SR battery.

I leave it on all the time as the Cigarette Lighter is on all the time too. It jumps to "green" when the truck is started, charging then stops till it gets to some voltage, in the orange, then kicks in periodically. If it gets to red, I have a problem.

Yes, it stays on at least 5 minutes (how long I waited).
The USB goes off after about 60 seconds after exiting and locking the turned off truck.

Since the cigarette lighter socket stays on all the time, I could use a solar panel trickle charger on the dash through the cigarette lighter to maintain the LVB.

A plug-in battery maintainer has to be one that won't over charge the AGM. But these solar dash chargers have such a low current...Best to use a controller to avoid the possibility of over-charging the AGM battery.

"Typically, AGM batteries should be charged at a voltage ranging from 14.4V to 14.8V, particularly under standard temperature conditions. This range is critical to fully charge the battery to 100% SoC while avoiding any potential harm..."

Like this controller:

Schumacher Electric 12-Volt Solar Charge Controller
The controller would need to be used on all our solar panels, including the SP-200, if charging an AGM or Gel cell battery.

HomeDepot or Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Schumacher-SPC-7A-Solar-Charge-Controller/dp/B00752TRNW?th=1

EDIT: From the manual - nixed the idea of a solar trickle charger into the 12v outlet.

"Do not plug in any device that
supplies power to the vehicle through the
power points. This could result in damage

to vehicle systems. "

As important as this battery is, why do you as the owner have to go out and purchase another piece of equipment to show the LVB state, when it would be good to add to to the dash!

I too have a 23 pro standard battery.
Do we know if any 12vdc outlets or USB are live continuously?

My dash cam comes off my rear view mirror with a nice adapter plug and play..

It's a nice truck. Software and LVB could be better of course.

When I checked today, the USB goes off after about 60 seconds, but the 12v cigarette lighter outlet above the 120V outlet on the dash stayed on.

I didn't check the others (USB or 12v), but I think they are wired together from a wiring picture someone posted a while back.

EDIT: maybe not all. USB 1 and 2 on on the same 10A fuse, USB 3 is on a separate 5A fuse.

The USB comes on when I unlock the truck even before turning it on with the push button.

Maybe this is all documented somewhere? Or not.

From the manual:

"You can charge your device through the
data transfer USB port when SYNC is on.

You can charge your device through the
charge only USB port when the vehicle is
in accessory mode or when the vehicle is
running."

But I found the data transfer USB port is ON right after unlocking the truck before pressing the button to go into accessory mode (without holding the brake pedal).

Maybe SYNC is on at that point?

Also from the manual:

"When you switch the vehicle on, you can
use the socket to power 12 V appliances
with a maximum current rating of 20 A. Do
not use the power point over the vehicle
capacity of 12 V DC 240 W or a fuse could
blow. Do not plug in any device that

supplies power to the vehicle through the
power points. This could result in damage

to vehicle systems. Do not hang any
accessory from the accessory plug. Always
keep the power point caps closed when
not in use. Do not insert objects other than
an accessory plug into the power point.
To prevent the battery from running out of
charge:
• Do not use the power point longer than
necessary when the vehicle is off.
• Do not leave devices plugged in
overnight or when you park your vehicle
for extended periods."

But they seem to be always on - maybe they are providing a reduced current - I did not check that.

That bolded language nixes the solar trickle charger plugged in to the 12v outlet.

You may want to check this. My Lariat ER shut down power to the 12V Power Port on the passenger side of the dash 30 minutes after the truck shut down. I really liked these Jebsens. But, the one with with USB-C was replaced twice by the company before I gave up on it. The twin USB-A is still plugging along.

The measuring the LVB voltage via the 12v outlets in the cab is convenient.

But, of course, it could also be done at the battery terminals in the frunk with a volt meter when the truck is off if one is handy.

EDIT: Just checked my truck battery terminals (down stream from the BMS) with an analog multi-meter and it pegged right on the 13V line. A digital version would be more accurate - this was a hand-held device with a small analog display - my digital one is MIA.

Assuming the 100% terminal voltage is about 13.0V mine is 100%.

Thanks, I did not wait 30 minutes to check to see if it went off.

The manual warns about leaving things plugged in to them too long, overnight - which makes it seem like they stay on all the time:

"To prevent the battery from running out of
charge:
• Do not use the power point longer than
necessary when the vehicle is off.
• Do not leave devices plugged in
overnight or when you park your vehicle
for extended periods."

Go figure...
