FordPass App has been Neutered

Maybe I’ve missed the forums on here about this but if not I don’t think this gets talked about enough. Seen some things on Reddit about it, but when I bought my XLT, one of the big selling points was what all I could do with the FordPass App. For me it was the monitoring of the ProPower Onboard and the Zone lighting. The sales guy showed these features off and it was really a tipping point for me on making the purchase then and there because these features are super useful via my phone at work. The scales feature as well. But since the new update, all these features are gone. Now it’s just a Home Screen that lets me start climate control and honk the horn. I’ve read on Reddit they’ll reintroduce these features later, but man do I feel like I lost something I paid for. I love the truck and this isn’t going to make me trade it in of course, I can take the extra few seconds and climb into the cab to check all this on the screen, but having it on the phone was a real time saver at work when the truck is sometimes 300 yards away. Really wish they’d bring these feature back already, it’s been a few months.

Anyone with a Sonos device can tell you how well that release strategy is working out.

I think we need to look at this the "other way around". Ford can still hoover up lots of personal information while delivering less ... it's a win/win!

How funny, I just went to use remote zone lighting from the app(SUPER USEFUL when in the forest) and it was not there. (And I just happened across this post a few hours later. )
Everyone has some feature that they find great - while maybe not used every day, it doesn't make the [deleted] features any less important.

Oh well, hope they add all this stuff back soon.

Another thing missing, the fuse map. I found a reference that it was in the FordPass app at Service/Reference Guide but the only thing there now is the maintenance schedule. I search the online owner's manual but no luck. I had to search YouTube yesterday to find the infamous "Fuse 13".

ya gotta start somewhere. launch the app with features you think people want then after launching survey people using it to find out what they really want and ones they don't care about. Initially I thought the zone lighting from my phone was cool but it took so long to connect I don't miss it, and the value was questionable.

Zone lighting was nice. I was able to load my bike the the dark when I got back to the truck. Didn't interrupt the task of loading up. Just whipped out the phone and activated the lights. It's a good convenience feature. I think I'll use it more for camping lights.


The trip planner is the thing I miss the most. I plan my trips at home when I get a moment. Not when I'm in the truck.

The way they keep trying to monetize their software as a service they are probably working on some way to be able to charge us monthly for each of these features individually!
