Last week my 23' started up with a stated 57% power and the wrench. I dropped it off at Norm Reeves Ford in Cerritos, Ca. They ran the error report and handed me the keys for a Mach-E to borrow while they took a look. On Friday they called to say "looks like a faulty cell. We're working to get a replacement and get it back to you soon."

I have to say, getting the Mach-E was a nice touch as I feel OK about still using the HOV lane and I have a long commute.

@Ford Motor Company just got the Powertrain malfunction / reduced power alert, service vehicle soon. :-( Power reduced to 57%. Just hit 4950 miles on my ‘23 Lariat ER. Service appointment for next Wednesday was the soonest available at my dealer. Just had the 6.8 OTA power up earlier this week and the front sensor CSP fix. Under warranty. Curious to see how long it’ll take to get repaired based on the other testimonials on this thread.

Do we know how common this is yet? I just got this for the second time today. I had a module replaced earlier this year. Time for round two...too bad because everything else about this truck is perfect. There's no way I would ever keep this truck beyond the battery warranty period when one of these module replacements would probably be $5k minimum.

Does this seem to be an issue with 22 and 23 models? Just breezing through the posts and I didn’t see any 24 models.

there was a 24 Flash that was reported having a bad module. Twitter: Lamonte Grulke
See my spreadsheet where I have been tracking reports.

2024 F-150 Lightning Lariat ER.
800 miles.
Got the "Powertrain malfunction / Reduced power message" just after turning it on. Had charged to 90% before that. No updates recently.

Guess I'll get a service appointment at the dealer that sold it to me and PM @Ford Motor Company to see if they can see anything on their side.

Following up on my truck - ended up being in the shop for ~3wks. Dealer gave me a loaner during it so they did the right thing. Here’s what the repair was. Dealer indicated that without warranty coverage this repair was quoted at just north of $10,000…~$8,000 was for the part alone. He also said the part number updated so Ford is putting a new Module Array type that hopefully fixes it for good…we’ll see. Really shapes my thoughts on purchasing the truck after the lease ends.

They’re replacing module 1 on my truck. Hs there been any rhyme or reason to the modules that fail?
Just got the message from the dealer confirming Cell 2 has now failed and needs to be replaced. Honestly, this is fucking bullshit. If I didn't love the truck so much I wouldn't be so pissed. @Ford Motor Company owes it's early buyers a full battery replacement with cells that aren't going to fail. I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this point. There isn't any other vehicle on the market that I'd rather have but I have zero confidence that this won't continue to happen. 🤬🤬🤬

Quoting CSP23B57:

“Less than 4% of the affected vehicle population is expected to require one or more high voltage battery modules needing to be replaced.”

The key words to my way of thinking are “or more”. Replacing one module with a cell gone bad is not a guarantee that you will not have another cell failure in another module the future.

I’m thinking their 4% may turn out to be an underestimate unless they have identified a specific time-bound issue in their quality records.

Ok, got my 2024 Lariat back (4 hours)

"WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, FOUND CODE P0929"

"7001D4 MODULE - GEARSHIFT (GSM) - REPLACE
(7210/7D443/7P155) - L
99819 WF"

Apparently there was an issue with a bad batch of gear shift modules

Looks like I have a similar issue. 2023 XLT, yesterday got a charge fault error while plugged into my juicebox. After a whole bunch of experimentation:

- I can't charge above 66%, otherwise I can drive around fine.
- L2 charging works fine until it hits 66%
- DCFC will only charge at a max of 27KW, then will fault when it hits 66%
- Tesla V3 charged at 27KW, then started to drop
- EA 350kW station only charged at 20KW then started dropping
- EVGO 50kW station started at 24KW then steadily dropped until hitting 66% and faulting
- I have a Powertrain Malfucntion / Reduced power message on my App but I didn't see it flash on the display
- I have the service vehicle soon note but I thought that was because I was close to 10k miles.

Bringing it in on Monday morning, will report back.

Follow-Up to my post of 10/28/2024:
We picked up the Lightning Friday evening (11/1/2024). Highlights from the tech's notes:
=========
12650D EEC System Diagnosis
12650DX1 EEC System Diagnosis
Run EEC tests on all power train modules. BECM P0B24:21
Run all PPT with no conclusive results
Re-programmed all the power train modules
Extensive software updates targeting multiple modules including the PCM, ABS module, and various On-Board Diagnostic Control Modules
Updates concluded with the BECM, GFM2, DC/DC Converter Control Module, and the HVAC Control Module also receiving software enhancements.
Connected to level 2 charger and verified the system charges normally
=========

I noticed they only charged the battery to 66%, which I assume proved that it would charge beyond 65% without faulting, since I reported that it barked & stopped at 65% when the problem arose.
We took it for a jaunt this morning, and brought the battery down to about 46%
Connected the L2 charger when we got home, and it is now at 80% and climbing, with no problems so far.

I found it interesting that when we dropped it off on Monday, the check-in SA said they have only had to replace battery modules in a couple of vehicles, but with all other occurrences of this charging issue they have fixed it with a software update. The (different) SA who checked us out Friday evening said the same thing.
