Mobile Charge Distance at 90% only gives me 375 kms which is way less than advertised.

I charge my Lightning Extended Battery at home using the mobile charger to 90 % and I consistently only get 375 kms distance at 90%. Is this normal for 90%. All I have read said full charge is 515 km. So 90% should be at least 463 km at 90 %

Many threads on this. It's called a "Guessometer" for a reason. It takes into account recent trips. So in winter months it will be lower due to the battery not being as efficient as in warm weather. Ditto for driving uphill, into the wind, towing, etc.

To add to that, the battery will try to heat itself at times in colder weather so you can have hvac losses regardless of if you wanted heat in the cab.


Then if you are “preconditioning” to the next charger that will have some losses.

But the biggest is speed. If you are driving faster the 65 mph the distance in the “tank” will take a large hit on the guess-o-meter

That makes sense thanks....when I first purchased it was in the 400km range and as I have driven it to work it started changing and I assume based on my trips.

You can go in and reset EV Driving History also. That will give you the default mileage (535km/ 320 miles) on the screen, but it doesn't actually give you any more miles, just might make you feel better! Until it starts dropping quickly and then you panic!

Go to the dealer ASAP they put the wrong battery. You have a standard range vice extended range battery. I’d reach out to Ford’s BEV team and @Ford Motor Company on this forum. This issue has got to stop with the wrong batteries on extended range

I wish Ford sales people would take the time to explain range to new buyers. They are always afraid that the truth will wreck the deal. The ER range at 320 miles in the real world is just not attainable. There is always a variable that will take you well below 300.

It is certainly attainable if you're just putt-putting around town in good weather. But in the cases where you get the best efficiency you don't care about efficiency, because you're charging at home anyway. Where you really need the range, on highway trips, you will never get the rated range unless you happen to have a 30 MPH tail wind the whole way.

I agree nobody does a very good job of setting expectations about range/efficiency. Especially in winter. Gas/diesel trucks have the exact same impacts on efficiency from high speed highway driving - it takes a lot of energy to push a brick through the air. The difference is it only costs money, not time or inconvenience like public charging.

Displayed Range means very little, in city I get 25 kw/h which is 550+ kms - on highway 40 kw/h or 320 km.

Now if you use Nav it gets a bit smarter and uses speed limits to give you a better estimate of range and adjusts expectations. If you go over speed limit then your range will be even less then Nav says.

Your best estimate is drive 10 minutes and see what your kw/h is then take 135*SOC/kwh from trip. That’s your actual likely max range on a given day with actual temperatures , driving speeds and wind speeds etc.

Range: it all depends on how you drive, the road conditions, the average speed, the terrain, the ambient temperature, AC/Heater usage, etc.

Just like with a gasoline vehicle - if you drive aggressively with fast starts and stops, get on the highway doing 90 mph against a head wind on a cold day with the heat blasting, heading up a mountain...well what do you think your mpg be compared with driving on level ground or downhill on a mild day at the speed limit of 25 mph with gradual starts and stops, and not using AC or heat?

So I get that 233 miles easily with my SR battery charged to 90% because I drive no faster than 35 mph (57 kmph) on generally level ground not using AC or heat and in a temperate climate (Northern Virginia USA).

Check your trip info for mile per kWh (or km per kWh) and adjust your driving to see if you can maximize it.
