I dropped mine off on Tuesday, then on Wed they said it needed a new 12V battery because they couldn't keep the voltage up enough to do some recall updates. I've never had any issues with the 12V so personally I feel they ran it dead trying to do updates. Regardless I have to pay for a 12v and it was going to take 2 days to get a "Ford 12v" battery in. I think they also ordered a battery module but I was getting second hand information from the receptionist and he didn't have many details.

12 V battery should be covered under the three-year of 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty!

Hopefully this will be the end of your troubles, but you've probably read a few reports of subsequent failures, enjoy the truck until you need to cross that bridge.

Hoping so. I had 16k miles of mostly uneventful (lots of recalls) ownership over the last 2 years. I still think it might have been software related.

It's too bad they didn't knock out the BCM and some of the other things while they had it in the shop. As you know it wouldn't have taken long. Would have been a nice gesture after having your truck gone for this long.

That BCM in particular, since you can't do that one yourself.

They did software recalls as well. What was there to do for the BCM and can you verify they didn't?

They did give me some pictures of the truck tore apart. The big one in the middle is what was replaced. I can't tell if the paperwork specifies which one it is.

Well I did pull your list this morning and that's why I mentioned the stuff they didn't do. I know you can do most of that stuff yourself but getting them to do the BCM so you'd have walk-away-locking would be a plus. You can't do that one.

I'm sure this was the first battery replacement they have done and it was time consuming. They weren't going to do anything more than they had too. That would have been nice though.

Be sure to keep you eye on the coolant reservoir level for the next few days. Some early module replacements did not have all of the bubbles vacuumed out of the system. The air will work its way back to the reservoir and the level will drop.
