I work from home and usually don't drive more than 20 miles a day, so my power usage is pretty low. I always charge at home on a 120v plug. I charge up to 70% on the weekends and that's usually enough for the week, ending up around 30% by Friday night. I'm considering changing that to where I just plug in whenever I'm home, with my charge target set to 70%. That way I've always got decent range in case I suddenly need to take a longer drive. Does anyone know if one of those charging patterns will be any better for the batteries? I know that expansion is one of the things that is rough on the batteries. Will keeping the batteries near 70% with very shallow discharge/charge cycles be any harder on them than the 70%-30% cycle I'm using now?

Get a 220v evse.

Ford says keep it below 90%
Ford says keep it at 50% for storage longer than 30 days.

Rule of thumb is to keep it above 20%.

Shallower charge/discharges are generally better, but it's not going to make a major difference if you charge 10% a day or 12% or 7%.

I usually keep it 50-70% during the week, but charge to ~95% if heading to the Laurel Highlands for the weekend. If I had to guess, even after 8 years, if you are doing things 'wrong', there will be very minimal difference in performance in the end.

This last bit. With the cells rated for 2000 or so full cycles at a 1-hour discharge rate (DCFC at 130 kW) before a loss of 20% or 30% capacity, your battery has a long, long life ahead.

I'm particularly interested in this snippet:

" Pressing the pedal with your foot hard does not speed up aging. If anything, it slows it down, explained Alexis Geslin, one of three lead authors of the study and a PhD student in materials science and engineering and in computer science in Stanford’s School of Engineering. "
