It is sad that one of the best vehicles ever produced is in this state of flux. I blame it 100% on the dealer network and their furious pushback of not only the Lightning, but EV in general.
Unfortunately dealers make 50% or more of their gross margin on service, and they know that EV's will be...
This thread is not about emergency backup power or how to do that best. It is about buying and selling based on Time of use rates to derive an income by using your EV battery.
The Ford HIS and Sigenergy systems are capable of this (as well as providing emergency power) and are fair to compare...
That statement is just plain false. I have the system and it works just fine. I would challenge them on this.
This image is straight out of the inverter manual:
They are not correct. The Ford/Sunrun system is a Delta inverter capable of connecting to the truck, an LG battery (2 actually) and has MPPT for direct solar input.
In addition is can also tie to existing AC coupled solar.
The LG RESU Prime 16H is fully compatible with the inverter they are...
The compatible battery cost under $3k. You can ask Sunrun if the would install this at the same time and how much they would charge to do so.
most of the labor is already covered since it goes into the same inverter.
Keep in mind you are choosing between some solar credits and over $10k of free equipment. Instead of solar credits, you should be able to do self consumption, and basically save the same amount of money as well.
If it works with a Tesla, it should work with the same vehicles that work with the others (like Lightnings). They just are establishing a CCS DC charging session. They are just marketing to Tesla because of all the existing vehicles that didn't have this function.
The sheer irony of that statement is thicker than wet cement. I would challenge Ford to show that they can even perform (much less enforce the delivery of) a power up within 30 days to customers.
I have considered buying an EV just as stationary storage once I can get one for under $10k (we...
The Rivian issue is with the truck in that it does not report back the state of charge properly over the CCS protocol. As a safety measure the Sigenergy shuts it down because it has not idea what the truck is doing.
I have heard from a couple of people that even with the latest walk away lock...
Back on topic to this thread, and the fact that I own both the Ford/Sunrun and Sigenergy systems, I can say that there are some big differences for the two. One of the main keys for me was that both the Sigenergy load hub (automatic transfer switch) and inverter have native Ethernet...
I already have a couple threads going on my Sigenergy (formerly Pointguard) system, but do plan on a full writeup and possibly my first video when I get the V2X added.
I can't really disclose my cost, but I will say I paid less than that advertised distributor, and did all my own work. It does...
Just to advise that this requires a few other components to work. It is not a stand alone product. It is an amazing system though. I am reinstalling the extra electrical this week and should have the V2X module within about 3 weeks.
The Sigenergy system does exactly what you want to do from a TOU case with home batteries.
For the truck you can use their generator inlet and pro-power onboard in an off-grid condition. On grid they have a V2X module that works like the Home Integration System.
