  3. The Lightning Can Oversteer (drift); Who Knew?

Sport Mode gives it a Mustang feel in the wet with 7.5/10. Well, a quiet Mustang feel. 🤣
  4. Tesla Charging Prices - Not excited as others

Another issue is coming. I don’t have the adapter, so I juiced up at a Ford dealer in Charlottesville, Va yesterday. Dreadfully slow Blink charger at 40kw was $0.79/kw. I got my 10kw bump and was on my way. The Tesla Supercharger up the street was $0.38. Why would I willingly pay double for...
  5. Your 'Connected' Car May Be Transmitting Your Driving Data to Insurance Companies

One of my former students used the Progressive “plug in” dongle at the DLC. State Farm was charging $340/mo Progressive first month $87. Progressive second month $640. She came to me in tears. “This can’t be right, I said.” After looking up the links that were provided with her permission, it...
  6. Pics of Lightning Trucks Doing Truck Things. Post Yours! 📸

It’s the tires. Just because they are stamped M+S does not mean that much. The stock tires were optimized for on pavement use. Been stuck in mud with the truck and tractor in the back pasture on the same day. Life happens . 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s the tires. They may have an m+s on the sidewall, but they are optimized for pavement. Getting stuck happens. Used the tractor after getting stuck in mine, too. Its life.
  8. 22 Lightning likely totaled

    😬
  9. Almost time for new tires, what are you planning on getting after the stock tires wear out?

Pirelli Scorpion 3 for me. Put 25000mo on General Grabbers in first 6 mo of 2023. Rain traction was adequate until the tires down to 4/32nds. New Pirellis at 10000mi have no complaints . No hydroplaning and significantly better than the Generals. Canada in 5 degrees in January and south...

Valid points with one correction. Virginia has a 12mo state-inspection program. As an inspector, we pull front and rear wheels for closer inspection of components.😎

12-2-22 5:44pm - It was delivered. Many thanks to ALL of you and especially the TaxMan for your tips and quips about your whips. I lived vicariously through your experiences and pics for months while the truck was in the Petersburg “Prison” Rail-yard, with a second Rail-yard worker strike...
  12. ✅ 8/15/22 Lightning Build Week Group

I was happy to see that United Road signature. They’ve got ALOT of cleaning to do… hopefully the rail coaldust won’t be an issue, as this a major hub for WV coal. I’ll be headed over that way at 2pm. 🤞🤞 (And if it takes a couple of additional days to prep, it kinda doesn’t matter, right?)

  15. Please, confirm that I'm NOT crazy here

Setback is a common alignment specification on any vehicle that addresses road crown as well as toe-out on turns. Caster angles are used to allow the vehicle to track straight down the road. Adjusting a split caster angle addresses this and creates positive setback on North American (left hand...

    …bumped again🤦🏻‍♂️
  17. Having a truck stuck at the Rail Yard is the WORST!

UnitedRoad (final shipper) lists vehicle as “On Hold”. It’s standard operating procedure when an FSE has to inspect a particular component — be it a software or hardware item. I have a good idea why as well. Doesn’t fix the problem any quicker. About as much fun as watching a Chevy rust…...
