  1. Snow to Sand and back…. 4,759 miles

There are a couple of posts related to this. Using an OBD scanner it has been found that the truck is charging beyond what it calls 100%. It is not charging beyond 131. The numbers are inexact and you’ll have to read through to understand more, but a lot of people have reported the “hidden”...
  2. Snow to Sand and back…. 4,759 miles

I had an ER so 22% is more like 58 miles. I should have arrived home with about 7% but I the truck went dead with 3% on the dash, and 4 miles from home. Feel free to take your risks though.
  3. Snow to Sand and back…. 4,759 miles

I would not recommend this. I sold the truck after a bad experience. The battery went from 22% to dead in less than 40 miles while it said I was getting close to 2 mi/kWh. Further, it died when it said the battery had 3%. Trusting the software like you would trust a gas gauge is not a good plan.
  4. Charge Station EV conversion to $4.50 per gallon @18mpg

It is very difficult to find a good comparison of fossil fuel subsidies to renewable subsidies. Many things that some websites mark down as subsidies are tax deductions that are available to any business. In fact, in 2016 and 2017, the US Government (by their own assessment) had a net revenue...
  5. Charge Station EV conversion to $4.50 per gallon @18mpg

I sold the Lightning and got a PowerBoost about 4 months ago. I can tell you that I do not miss the extra acceleration that the Lightning has over the PowerBoost. I am also getting 17 mpg on the highway under lousy conditions (headwinds and doing 75-80) and 25 mpg in good conditions (tailwind...

  7. FranklinWH batteries to Lightning?

I added two FranklinWH batteries recently. The panel upgrade includes an automatic transfer switch that allows input from a standby generator and apparently a vehicle. I sold my Lightning so I can't tell you whether it works.
  8. Hurricane Milton and EVs.

EV stations need a power source. What is powering them? So 2/3 of gas stations had gas. So who exactly can't get gas? Here's another article for you, from NPR: https://www.wusf.org/politics-issues/2024-10-12/florida-opens-fuel-depots-make-free-gas-available-milton
  9. Hurricane Milton and EVs.

If you can recharge from a gas generator, isn't it far more efficient to put that gas in the truck and burn it for fuel?
  10. 23 LER Lariat - Final Thoughts - 9 Months/20k mile ownership.

Three weeks into switching back to an ICE F150 (PowerBoost actually), and I have no regrets. I live in one of those challenging areas for road tripping, and it was not fun. I just filled up this morning, and it reads 600 miles until empty. Ahhhh....... Lots of comments from people who ask me...
  11. Truck died 5 miles from home

Good plan. Best of luck. You will enjoy the truck.
  12. Truck died 5 miles from home

Exactly. Lack of you (Logan) judging me. Again, sorry you (Logan) were offended.
  13. Truck died 5 miles from home

You misinterpreted my response. I was sincere about the kind words. Sorry you were offended.
  14. Truck died 5 miles from home

Really the decision was long coming, and did not have to do with the lack of Tesla charging. I can't go down to Port Mansfield and back. There are no charging stations. None. Zero. I can't go to a friend's ranch and back. No charging stations. I have lived with the truck telling me what I...
  15. Truck died 5 miles from home

Thank you. I love and will miss the EV platform but there needs to be a lot more chargers and the capability to charge faster before I will consider it.
  16. Truck died 5 miles from home

…and I’m out. Sold this am. Bye y’all. It’s been fun. Picking up an F150 hybrid Friday.
  17. NACS Adapter shipping delayed until September

Agreed. What would happen in the case of a fire while fast charging? Ford and your insurance company might point to the unapproved adapter, and refuse to compensate you. Will the adapter company step up and compensate you? Unlikely. Granted, the risk of a fire is low, but it is not zero.
  18. Shopping 2023 Lariat Lightning to replace ‘21 KR PB

I'm also interested in your take on the PowerBoost. My '22 Lariat ER with 21,000 miles is for sale on this site. Shopping for a PowerBoost. So, three questions: 1. How do you like the PowerBoost? 2. What year is it? 3. Wanna trade? (p.s. The Lightning is perfect for daily 120 mile use.)
