  1. Running AC in summer--love it!

I forget the exact brand but it’s ceramic which is the most important aspect. I ended up doing 25% front windows, 15% back and rear, 50% moon roof, and 70% windshield. You don’t need to go dark to enjoy the benefits either, you can do clear if required by law.
  2. Running AC in summer--love it!

I’ll offer this as a tip from someone who’s now operated his lightning in the Mojave desert and Florida: tint your windows. Tinting helps so much in rejecting IR energy that it makes your AC that much more ā€œeffectiveā€. I’ve been driving in 115-120F temps and still had my truck holding 70F...
  3. Battery temp, charging speeds, degradation questions.

I will add that I just left the high desert and I still pulled 165kW to start and at the 10min mark was usually around 90-100kW when I DCFC’d. Temps were 100-110F. I usually had high batt temps like yours once I was driving but when I would leave my garage in the am it would be centered. Granted...
  4. Orange Wrench Service Soon but still full power

Took my truck into the Dealership today for getting this issue: It was a bad Coolant Diverter. Apparently, the truck also has a code for Air Dam Failure because I must have hit something while driving off-road in the desert. I need to take a look, I can't think of many instances where I was...
  5. BlueCruise 1.4 - What do you think?

Bluecruise 1.4 is nice but it's not perfect. I just finished a 2,400 mile trip and I sent plenty of feedback to Ford regarding things they need to work on: Signal to change lanes sits for a second or two before going and I found that led to confusion with other drivers on multiple occasions...
  6. Outer Tire Wearing Fast F150 ev

I have torched my Hankooks. I’m gonna see what deals discount tire drops and switch to Michelin Defenders. 35k not very gentle miles on these… I
  7. Ford NACS Adapter Poor Temperature Control

Interesting, I definitely have a Tesla one then. It’s the big clunker on the left. I tried multiple times on this trip and each time the A2Z performed better than my ford one. I can’t imagine why.
  8. Ford NACS Adapter Poor Temperature Control

Well that’s disappointing then. Did A2Z ever get signed off by Tesla for use? The main reason I use my ford one is because it’s ā€˜official’.
  9. Ford NACS Adapter Poor Temperature Control

I had the free one then replaced it during the ford adapter recall. No idea who manufactured it but it’s the first gen. Got it from ford last June or so.
  10. Reflections on the State of DCFC Charging in the US

I’ve probably crossed 50 fast charges since I got the truck. It is pretty easy these days, and I feel like I’ve seen a huge improvement over the two and a half years I’ve had the lightning. On my current 2,500 mile trip I basically just plug the ABRP route into google maps and it just works. No...
  11. Ford NACS Adapter Poor Temperature Control

Both adapters are in the cab with me so can’t improve there. Your second point is valid, though, I might try that as an experiment later today.
  12. Ford NACS Adapter Poor Temperature Control

I’ve noticed on my current road trip coast to coast along I-10 that the Ford Adapter performs poorly compared to alternatives. For example: I am stopped at a Tesla station, ambient temps are 88F and I’m in direct sunlight. After 9 minutes, my ford adapter is leading to my charging derating to...
  13. PSA: Keep your Tesla NACS adapter cool

Reviving this thread to say I have had issues with charging using the adapter in the heat. I’ve seen as high as 115F and the ford provided adapter gets very hot. My charging derates down to 80kW within ten minutes. One location also had magic docks so I switched and immediately went to 110kW and...
  14. Hauling Mulch - Went just over payload

I have inadvertently exceeded the max payload by a good bit more than 100lbs. I do not recommend it but if your concern is your truck breaking, it will be fine. In both times I did, it was on long roadtrips where I was moving and there were no lasting issues. As to why? I don’t have the onboard...
  15. Increase range by 18% with Flated Cap

I have had a bed cap for a year and it has not changed my efficiency at all. Like others said, a bed cap simply moves the ā€œair pocketā€ behind the truck. If you really wanted to explore some aerodynamics, vortex generators along the upper and lower trailing edge of the truck could help reduce...
  16. Orange Wrench Service Soon but still full power

Just had this start happening to me today. Air Dam functions, the shifter functions, and charging appears normal. No issues with temps either. I have full power but get a "Service Soon" wrench shortly after turning the vehicle on and driving. Really unfortunate timing considering I am driving...
  17. Emergency Frunk Release Activated - lesson in organizing cargo in the frunk

I also had this happen a few times with golf clubs. The 3D printed cover helped as long as it doesn't pop off. I glued mine on to keep it in place.
  18. 603 mile drive mostly in the SoCal desert

Very generous of you to help a stranded driver. The deserts and mountains in the region have always impressed me. Never before have I seen something that made me think of the surface of Mars before. Is the area volcanic? Lots of black and jagged rock formations to be found.
  19. Initial range after charge well below advertised range- 2025 Flash

Others have covered the GoM enough, but I'll throw this out: You can beat EPA range but it's all about use case. I have almost always gotten more than 320 to a charge, as high as close to 400 even; however, I have one of the best use cases: sub 40mph driving in temperate climates. I've...
  20. Poll: Do you use PAAK or Key fob for daily use?

No issues really with PaaK. Sometimes it doesn't recognize my phone right away, but I attribute those to my phone. Been using PaaK since I bought my truck 2.5 years ago. Like others, I keep my spare fob in a Faraday bag in the glovebox so if my phone is ever busted I can keypad in and use the...
