I heard that Teslas (maybe just early ones) did not use re-gen when pressing on the brake petal. So all the brake petal did was actuate the friction brakes. That's why they originally said 1PD was better and more efficient because it was the only mode that used re-gen.

Yes, that’s it. It’s really just for the look. Combined with a good set of wheels and tires, gives a more aggressive stance I guess. I probably wouldn’t install one, but since the truck I bought already has it, I really like the look of it.
