Luke - Go back to the beginning of this Odessey, and you'll see that's exactly what I was attempting to do: A $23 Curt controller using the harness that CAME WITH the truck. Except, the harness didn't exist under the dash! There was no apparent way to connect an aftermarket brake controller...
Update - Found a video on YouTube that HADN'T been removed... :cautious:
It mentioned IPC register 720-04-01 changing to xx4x xxxx xx, which I flashed last night along with enabling matrix LED headlights, which enabled successfully.
BUT - According to LivingItUp's ForScan spreadsheet, that's...
The kit has been backordered since LAST YEAR. I need to get brake controller functionality and was tired of waiting. The dash switch was $60, and I tweaked the ForScan settings shown in the video which has since been taken down, causing me to question its pedigree.
The point of this is to use...
The part number and a pic of the box is shown above.
I also noticed that the video showing what ForScan settings to tweak to enable to brake controller has been removed.
Things that make you go "Hmmmm...."
Success!
Enabled the controller on my SR Lariat after just purchasing the switch. To recap, the Lariat came with the TCM under the dash- I only had to order the bias switch itself (part number in my post) and change three registers in ForScan.
Clicky!
Success! Purchased the switch (ML3Z-14529-AC) and enabled the trailer brake controller using the video @Bmann posted.
See pic and video. Sure beats paying an extra $200, and still backordered as of this post.
That switch LOOKS like just half the equation, and only for trucks without the rear park aid sensors.
The ML3Z-19H332-AB kit includes the new Brake Controller Module as well as the switch.
I am STILL waiting on the brake controller kit from Ford. They are still backordered everywhere (can't even find them on Ebay at this point). Expected to arrive later this week or early next.
I will update with everything I do to make this work.
Literature is sparse. If anyone knows more, please chime in.
If you follow my thread here, I show part numbers of what came with my Lariat SR (a Ford pigtail to nowhere) and the part number for the kit I'm attempting. Once I receive the kit (still on backorder for 2 weeks), I'll install and...
The "official" kit is part number ML3Z-19H332-AB and the price should be $239.60 actual. Your price may vary from your parts supplier.
The installation is literally 10 minutes- The switch in the dash is a plug and click, and the module is two connectors and two 8mm bolts. I don't believe...
You bought the controller box, the in-dash switch, or both from an ICE F-150? I see the in-dash switches on Ebay for $130+, and figured if I'm already out that much, I'd better just get the "official" kit including the control module from Ford for maximum chance everything just "works"...
