Lariat SR, Feb 10th was my 1 year anniversary. I absolutely love my truck. The space, the luxury, the acceleration, the ride, the quiet...can't be beat. It's the perfect vehicle for local use. The only thing I'd do different is get the ER, but even then, not for typical long distance road...
Absolutely agree. I will say it stings that I paid $75k for my Lariat SR as an early adopter and you can now get an ER for less, but my truck totally works for how I use it. I've yet to use a public charger. Charging at home is cheaper than most since I have solar as well. I expect I will keep...
I have been wondering about this myself. The invoice says nothing about the fact that the vehicle is electric...I suppose the IRS uses the VIN to verify...if they do at all! Thanks to @rio for starting this thread.
Thank you for the detailed explanation Ralph. On I10 in NW Florida, where I live, 80-85 mph seems to be the norm. I rarely see 18 wheelers doing less than 75/80. Those speeds drain the battery super fast. I think doing 68 is going to be challenging here but I will give it a try some time.
Nice write up. I'm coming up on my 1 year anniversary with my SR Lariat and I love my truck as well. I've just never plucked up the courage to take it on a road trip. I'm curious; on the interstates, what's the average speed you you drive? And how often do you find yourself stopping to charge?
Nice to see the data presented that way. If I have to drastically change the way I drive just to eke out a few extra miles, it's simply not worth the hassle. I have a SR, drive it like normal which is 95% of the time. I charge it at home...yet to use a public charger. And whenever I need to go...
Definitely. I feel like a sucker for paying $75k for my Lariat SR in February. I looked into trading up to an ER and the dealer wouldn't offer me more than $48k. I love my truck and the SR is just fine for the way I use it but it sucks to know that I'm basically locked into the vehicle for...
Thanks for the detailed write-up! I have a Lariat SR and am still very firmly in the "ICE for road trips" camp. My Merc GLe is the perfect road tripping car. No range anxiety and no additional planning required. That's the point we need to get to in order for EVs to become truly viable. It's...
2018 VW Golf SE. The Lightning is my first truck, 6 months into ownership I still think don't think I could park it properly without the cameras! That and the turning circle are the only minor gripes I have. Apart from that, I absolutely love my truck!
My OTA updates are failing, apparently due to a "Low 12V Battery charge" error per Ford. I don't see this message but that's what they tell me shows up on their end. They recommended me taking it in to the dealer. I will try this to see if it fixes the issue
It is pretty easy to buy out of state. I live in Florida and have done this before. The cost incurred to fetch the vehicle is more than offset by the savings by buying from a place with more competitive pricing. I have bought from Atlanta and Charlotte before.
Awesome write-up. Thanks for posting. My SR Lariat is also perfect for my needs. Naysayers forget this...everyone's circumstances are different. So what if towing halves the range...just don't buy it to tow.
That's excellent news! I'm in Navarre. Can you please explain how city leadership could help get more chargers installed? I'm just not sure how these things work. My councilman lives 2 doors away from me so I could definitely speak to him but have no idea what, if anything, he could do??? Happy...
