  1. Hydroplaning

The Lightning is much heavier than the Forrester and you'll notice the weight in icy conditions. What tires do you have? As I mentioned, factory Grabbers are poor in snow/ice.
  2. Got to 2%, 5 miles to go - then I experienced something I didnt

Ford reserves the bottom part of the battery, so 10% SOC on the gauge has some buffer still. 20% is better. MickeyAO knows his stuff. I keep mine between 20-85% most of the time. Charge to 100% once per month or so. Ocassionally have dipped into 10-20% range and only a couple times below...
  3. FordPass Climate start not working

It sounds like Bluetooth functions are not affected but Climate start requires connectivity to cellular or WIFI. Climate start will not work in some of my locations due to simple lack of Cellular/WIFI connectivity. If you are sure it isn't a connectivity problem (poor cellular or no WIFI...
  4. FordPass not Communicating

If Fordpass isn't updating it can be your phone, Battery saver mode (Deep Sleep mode) or the truck connectivity (and sometimes the Ford servers). In this order: Check status on Ford.com. If that info is correct, restart your phone. Start your truck (with the button/brake). Give it a few...
  5. Got to 2%, 5 miles to go - then I experienced something I didnt

^^^^. This is the key here. Anything into single digits of your SOC is aging your battery much faster than the 20-90% range. While you won't notice the range hit for a while, it will add up over time if you do this regularly. Keep it above 10% to keep your battery's SOH in good condition...
  6. Hydroplaning

I'm curious what was your last vehicle/tires and what tires you have on the Lightning. The factory Grabbers on some of our Lightnings are not good in the snow/ice. My Lightning is WAY better than my 2018 ICE F150 in the snow with the same tires (Blazzaks)
  7. 2023 Lightning Lariat - Heater Not Working

I think at this point, it is a dealer call. You've taken the steps to remove the obvious. Let them fix it now.
  8. Curious why some do not use 1 pedal driving.

Traction control will definitely use the brakes when it feels slippage in both 1PD and 2PD.
  9. Curious why some do not use 1 pedal driving.

Tesla has done regen on the brake pedal only in the last few years - Originally it was only in 1PD but they have evolved the system to include regen on 2PD. Not all Teslas have this. Some Tesla owners say it isn't as good since the brakes don't feel as solid. With Ford, most can't even tell...
  10. Curious why some do not use 1 pedal driving.

Agree, this one takes a bit more practice. I've found the brake hold doesn't kick in as long as you have gentle pressure on the accelerator. The space between the applying power and automatic brake hold is larger in reverse to assist with smoother parallel parking. You actually have to press...
  11. 2023 Lightning Lariat - Heater Not Working

I agree, fill it again. I might take a few drive/cool cycles to pull the coolant in and expel the air pockets. If you still have no heat you should call your service department. They should be able to see if the truck is throwing any codes. There have been cases where the coolant freezes in...
  12. Curious why some do not use 1 pedal driving.

Not what I said at all. All EVs have regenerative technology built in and we are all using it on the Lightning. OPD technology is nearly 2 decades old (ie. it is not new). We have a choice to use it or not. Ford has done an excellent job employing regenerative/friction combined braking with...
  13. Curious why some do not use 1 pedal driving.

It is quite ok for us to have a difference of opinion. I will however call this comment out. The effects of gravity and friction apply the same to all vehicles and have no bearing on which drive mode you prefer.
  14. 2023 Lightning Lariat - Heater Not Working

I think the cabin heater is at the top of the system so it is the first to be impacted by low coolant. As long as you get it topped up right away, there should be no issues. Rightfully so, the battery temp should come first and is well monitored by the truck.
  15. Curious why some do not use 1 pedal driving.

"1.) the driving/passenger experience is completely different." I disagree. The amount to which the passengers feel the change is a direct result of how the driver operates the pedals. I guarantee my passengers do not know which mode I use. Smooth is smooth. 2.) the handling of the truck in...
  16. Curious why some do not use 1 pedal driving.

This is definitely a bit of a learning curve but I can say it is simple muscle memory now. 2.5 years with our MME and 2 years with the Lightning and my foot automatically goes to the right place on the pedal when I want to kick off the cruise. It definitely took a couple of months to build...
  17. 2023 Lightning Lariat - Heater Not Working

This is also the case for some new Lightnings without repairs. Sometimes they get airlocks at the factory and the coolant needs to be topped up. My 2023 had an empty tank after a few thousand miles. Topped up and no issues since.
  18. Curious why some do not use 1 pedal driving.

I see many references to not needing brake jobs when you use OPD. There is actually NO DIFFERENCE between OPD and 2PD with respect to the use of regenerative braking vs physical braking. OPD vs 2PD is a personal choice and only shifts how the pedals work. Energy efficiency is the same and the...
  19. We need a snow driving mode

The cognitive load completely depends on your experience. I’ve driven rear wheel drive, front wheel drive, 4 wheel drive, all wheel drive, automatic transmission, and manual transmission and while the actions may be slightly different in different conditions, the concept is exactly the same -...
  20. We need a snow driving mode

I'm testing this theory. No babying here - Got it and will use it. My SOH is 100% after 2 years and 30,000mi.
