  1. Coming from a Model Y, talk me in/out of a Lightning

It can be done. I towed a teardrop trailer (Tab 400) from East Jersey to Kansas City with my Lariat ER. AND a Nucamp Avia from Louisville to KC. Neither trip was fast or fun but I never came close to running out of juice.
  2. Coming from a Model Y, talk me in/out of a Lightning

Weird. Ours works 100% of the time with one press. Are you using an iPhone? Our 14 pros and now 16 pros have never had a problem with PAAK and door button lock/unlock. Maybe delete your PAAK and re-pair.
  3. Will I get Blue Cruise 1.5

Only if you get the 1.4 update. The OTA release notes state it.
  4. Coming from a Model Y, talk me in/out of a Lightning

Why not just press the button on any of the 4 the door handles?
  5. Coming from a Model Y, talk me in/out of a Lightning

I have a '22 Lariat ER and it does not have walk away lock. It's my understanding the '24 model has walk away lock like the MachE and it's anyone's guess if our older Lightnings will get it via OTA.
  6. Coming from a Model Y, talk me in/out of a Lightning

It could tow your 7,000lb boat about 140 miles if you really need it to but you better have a charging option by the dock
  7. Turn off Traction Control

Be careful playing around with massive horsepower and nanny controls turned off.
  8. Coming from a Model Y, talk me in/out of a Lightning

Had a '21 MY. Have a '22 Lightning Lariat ER. The Lightning drives like a dream compared to the MY. Yes the software is not as fun as our Rivian or Tesla but still decent. OTAs happen less frequently than Rivian or Tesla but we just got BlueCruise 1.4 finally. Not sure about the PAAK being...
  9. When will the lightning get the NACS port?

I will be shocked if there is a 2026 Lightning.
  10. Buffalo, Wyoming Love's with DC fast chargers

I spoke with the owner of Miller's Sinclair in Buffalo, WY. He put this deal together with Tesla. He said he has other stations across the county with Superchargers. He doesn't have any info on when or if construction will happen but said once they start they usually move quickly. I also spoke...
  11. Crossing an EV (and quite real) desert

I'm guessing your sudden loss of power was related to the bad module. That being said 5% as the new 0% is a good plan even with all healthy modules.
  12. Farley says Hybrid and Range-extenders are the answer for trucks (except fleets)

I'm not sure an EREV will convince many people. If the battery is decent sized at all they will still be super expensive. I haven't been able to convince anyone to get an EV. Even my most down to earth, rational and educated family and friends are afraid of them. I'm guessing all of us early...
  13. Farley says Hybrid and Range-extenders are the answer for trucks (except fleets)

Our '22 Santa Fe Hybrid got worse gas mileage at 80mph than the two ICE motor offerings. Throw in a headwind and it was as low as 12mpg.
  14. Farley says Hybrid and Range-extenders are the answer for trucks (except fleets)

So is the Lightning dead? I don't see anything about the '25 Lightning on Ford's site. Only review I could fine is Alex on Autos and it's not entirely clear if the truck he had was a 2025. Really sad what politics is doing to the EV industry. The Lightning is such a great truck.
  15. Found unsold '23 XLT ER: Battery implications from sitting 2years?

Surely the dealer would be willing to run a battery health report and put in a new 12v to move a truck that has been sitting on the lot for so long.
  16. Found unsold '23 XLT ER: Battery implications from sitting 2years?

Good point. Unless the truck has the new updated BMS and related OTAs the 12v will have reduced capacity. My 12v got replaced under warranty a few months ago even though I regularly kept it on a tender. I didn't even know it was bad.
  17. Found unsold '23 XLT ER: Battery implications from sitting 2years?

Because if it has been sitting at a very high SOC for two years the battery might have quite a bit of degradation which will affect its range. If the OP is planning to lease it for just a few years not much of an issue but if he plans to own it long term it could be a problem for long road trips.
  18. Crossing an EV (and quite real) desert

When my module failed failed about a month after I bought our '22 Lariat ER I was livid at Ford and assumed the other 8 modules would fail at some point. Now I'm not so sure. I was convinced it was a design defect and we would all get new battery packs at some point. But this is still...
  19. Crossing an EV (and quite real) desert

Ralph first let me say you drives are epic and looks like you are having a lot of fun. I too meticulously plan, rely on the truck nav and ABRP premium and do calculations in my head. I have taken our Lariat ER down to 3% on a couple occasions. That being said, sometimes it's just too cold...
  20. Dealerships that didn't provide paperwork for EV Tax Credit

I wouldn't buy an EV now unless the tax credit was deducted at the point of sale. That way it's the dealer's problem if they don't follow the rules.
