I guess it depends on what people prioritize but I agree aside from range does the Silverado really set itself apart? I mentioned the Silverado when I started this thread and my conclusion was probably not worth the massive price increase over the Lightning for the additional range. For...
Looking forward to how it goes for you since this is one of the trips I'm mapping out as I decide on the Lightning. I'd be making the trip from Warrenton as well. When I did map it out I was figuring top of at the Walmart before hitting the OBX.
I've seen a few comments about range and the Lightning. Is that just in comparison to the competition or is real-world range on the Lightning not good which is a negative?
I think this sums up my thoughts on the truck. I need to use it as a truck, no way a 21 bale cube of hay is fitting in a Rivian or a Hummer, and possibly not a Cybertruck. I agree with others on the Silverado, but with a $95k price tag? If at the same price point it'd be a much closer call.
So now that there are some more options for EV trucks how do folks feel the Lightning stacks up? Does it still meet expectations or has some of the luster worn off? Here are my thoughts on some of the others but what others are thinking and is everybody still happy with their decision or is...
And just for reference, if I decided to get some extra juice from the nearby EA station would a 15 min charging session be sufficient to get ~75 miles of range? Again assuming working fast charger and ideal conditions.
Sorry about that, I edited my post that I'm looking at a Lariat ER.
Also, sunny weather with no rain or head/tail winds. Grade is fairly consistent without any significant hills or climbs, no mountain passes.
Thought I'd use a recent trip a a hypothetical trip as part of my continued Lightning research. Over Labor Day weekend we made a trip and I got to thinking of how it would be if we had a Lightning since it would've been better to have a truck. Here are the details on the trip:
~170 miles...
I work from home most days so I can get by without using too many miles for a little while. I was planning to buy some type of mobile charger to keep in the truck for traveling so that might be an option to get by until I can find the time to install my outlet for an EVSE. I've already done...
This may be a dumb question but now that I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a Lightning, I'm curious if everybody had their charging setup and in place before purchase (maybe doesn't apply to those that ordered). Or did anybody need to add it after the fact? Since I've reached out to...
I traded my previous full-size crew cab for my current mid-size and quickly regretted it. I thought we could adjust to the smaller cab, but nope; didn't take long for the difference to show up, especially our fist road trip. With 4 people and all of our stuff it was cramped, luckily we didn't...
Thanks all for the sanity check! I would agree with @Zprime29 that I'm probably being a bit conservative since most of my driving would be less than 65mph, but it wouldn't hurt to add a bit of cushion.
And of course, no guarantees on not racing the occasional mustang.
