Firstly, as long as you are traveling on the interstate corridor between big cities there really isn’t much problem. But when you are traveling the interior of the United States, you have to do more planning.
Secondly, when I’m about to go on a 1k or 2k mile trip, I get a road map and mark all...
Wow, congratulations, I’m (23 XLT ER) only at 53k and my Goodyear tires will probably make it to 70k.
What was the indicator that told to replace the 12v battery? And what did you do after installing the battery?
How did I address the bonded neutral issue. Don’t tell anyone, but I just pulled the unshielded wire out of the receptacle that the cable from the truck plugs into. Some day long after I’m gone (due to electrocution) someone will wonder why the unshielded wire is not connected.
I wouldn’t bother with that panel. I just feed the truck directly to my main panel via a 30 amp breaker. And have a main cutout switch for main breaker. You can pre-determine which breakers to open so you don’t exceed 30 amps. (See picture)
This way you can get power to anywhere in house (just...
But also sound noise! Now I hear trucks 10 vehicles ahead of me because the Lightning is so quiet! The noise must have always been there, but I just didn’t hear it because my own ICE vehicle noise masked it out.
Plug the tire. If it holds your good to go. If it doesn’t then buy one new tire, or buy four new tires and I will be glad to get rid of all four tires for you free of charge!
If my 23 Lightning XLT ER at 53k miles suddenly were totaled, I would probably just buy a used Lightning assuming I can find one with all the same options. There is no other truck that can compete.
I’m a 74% er also. Never owned a Ford (diehard MOPAR) until we bought a 22 MME er and then the 23 Lightning er.
I guess it is up to Ford what I do next. I’m convinced 100% ev is the way of future (except for long distance towing).
I’m set for quite a few years. So I will have to see what is...
Ha Ford, have you noticed that most Lightning owners are satisfied and aren’t enthusiastic about EREV? I’m guessing that EREV has a place, but for me, when my Lightning is near end of life, I would probably look for another pure EV truck or do a major overhaul of my Lightning.
Hmm, maybe Ford...
When I encounter an EV denier, I smile, I put my hand on their shoulder, and say “Before you die, you will own an EV and you know what, You will like it”. But keep smiling!
I feel bad for Ford. They keep making bad decisions. Now if there was a generator delete option that would be a possibility.
I feel once the battery range makes it to 400 miles, the problem is solved!
Ford just has to figure out a way to get non-believers in the seat of EVs. All loaners at...
The only problem Ford has is advertising and salesmanship. If I were Ford, I would have EVs as loaner cars. They need to get people driving EVs. It would work great for one day repairs.
The portable chargers for both my MME and my Lightning have died when plugged into 220v but both do work when plugged into 110v.
Big disappointment! I thought Ford could do better.
I had exactly this same problem last Friday. It charged for about 5 minutes, and then suddenly paused. I unplugged and te-plugged , and it charged again for a few minutes ands again paused. I repeated for a third time and it finished. I ended up getting three receipts from Ford.
But a day...
I thought I was the only one who had this problem. I’m not sure what to do with the FCSP. Just throw it away? I was shocked at how much water was inside, when I opened it up. I bought a Ford connect charger to replace it.
The Lightning successfully replaces a minivan and 4 door 8 ft bed truck. I could not economically drive the old truck as a daily driver, hence the minivan. The Lightning does everything really well but I really miss the 8 ft bed. Just another 6 inches or foot would be so nice. Two pallets of...
