I like the diary idea. Maybe we all have the same problem or maybe we have different issues causing a very similar presentation. Seems like it is so similar though that it has to be some sort of problem with the trucks electronic control system. Why else would so many of us be having this?
I...
Yikes,
Sad thing is I otherwise love my truck. I'm going on a trip September 9-12, if it happens again I may have to start searching as well.
It's also really hard to buy a new truck right now....
Glad you're OK.
Jeb, I think your theories are on the right track, I will do some testing next time I tow.
I think that when I stopped at Walmart and got the compressed air what really worked was the fact that my truck was off for 10 or 15 minutes and then I turned it back on and reconnected. I can’t remember...
Jeb, on the two examples I gave on my previous post, I did indeed do a manual override before setting off on my trip and verified the brakes were working. I always do this now since I have had this issue and I had assumed that if they were working when I left I was good. I was quite surprised...
I have a similar thread about a very similar issue, seems to be widespread based on the replies. I have had the problem many times now. My 7 pin tester seems to show everything is fine.
As the OP of this thread, I feel bad I have not checked back for a while.
I would like to give another update:
I have also continued to have this problem:
1. I thought I had it figured out. I tow with a propride hitch, which makes the hitch a big longer than normal - a 7 pin connector...
OK, thanks for everyone contributing.
Update:
Went to test the trailer today. Wanted to make sure the trailer brakes were operational. Decided to pull the emergency breakaway switch and could hear the brakes working fine.
Then I turned on the "battery disconnect" button on my airstream and...
so you had the same problem I described and the conductive Grease fixed it? I will have to go to AutoZone and get some. I need to check my fuses as well, once I figure this out I will update the thread so everyone knows.
I have a new 2021 f150 power boost.
I purchased a 2020 airstream and towed it 10.5 hours from Wisconsin to Nebraska.
I set the trailer brake fine in Wisconsin and it seemed to be working without issue. I did mess with the gain a lot trying to get it right.
I parked in my driveway for 3 days...
I test drove this one today. Might buy it. Was planning on an Ecoboost for more payload but this one was pretty sweet with the power boost - think I can make that payload work.
