Even though I commented early about the front sonar beepy sensors being slow to react, Iām now remembering at least two times the truck alerted me to an imminent crash ahead. Once when traffic stopped on the highway and I was still accelerating with the accelerator pedal towards it. The other...
In general I find the front sonar sensors to be severely delayed. And I had the front sensor CSP done and itās still the same. The back ones work great, but the front ones will let me drive straight into my closed garage door before they even begin beeping.
Yeah itās logical it would involve ABS. The article stated it changes the accelerator response too:
ā When you activate it, your truck dials back accelerator pedal responsiveness and recalibrates traction and stability controls to help prevent wheel spin. Use this mode on icy roads or any time...
Was reading this Ford article and learned about Slippery Mode on the 2025ās. Now I of course hope someone can help us figure out how to add it to the 2022-2024ās but I guess based on this thread that is no easy task at the moment...
In my view, the Lighting is the most successful EV truck because of how much it shares with its ICE counterpart. Decades of ICE dominance know-how were baked into the Lightning from its inception. The ICE/EV design overlap is advantageous for both consumers and for Ford. The next phase for Ford...
If you have a 2023 I donāt think you can have smart hitch. I believe it requires the onboard scales and 2023āās didnāt get that due to chip shortage that year. But it does seem like 2022ās would be possible via software.
Neat that Teslas do that. I suppose if you were a handy person there would be a way to tap into the brake light wire and put a little tiny red light on the dashboard somewhere that would do the same thing.
You could also look into what Ford offers for the police interceptor package for the Lightning. It might be at least a head start on what youāre aiming for.

Not sure if this person who runs the Trucked Up EVs channel is on the forum here but heās done Lightning videos before. This one is interesting as it covers his journey with insurance labeling his truck totaled with very minor damage.
I intentionally never open my moon roof. I feel like as soon as dust or leaves or pine needles fall in the tracks itās gonna start leaking. Just my own theory.
Yeah unfortunately the article and the linked article in Swedish didnāt mention the age or mileage of the EVs. So this info seems kinda helpless without that. But in general, itās age that degrades EV batteries more than miles.
