Got this too. I had signed up for a month in September and it expired recently, so that's nice. It was close to worthless on my road trip but at least it works 95% of the time on my commute
I have powerwalls and in less than a decade they'll pay for themselves thanks to exporting during peak hours and 1:1 net metering.
I love the idea of your vehicle making you passive money as well while parked. How cool is that. Hopefully it becomes more mainstream.
I just had to try it 😁
2x 12v 300ah batteries and a 6000w 240v inverter. It added 4.5% range (the home assistant integration / ford API gives percentage in 0.5% increments.)
This is not something I plan on doing often, but it's nice that I can if I want to drain the batteries quickly or to...
I would like to remove this piece so that it's easier to fit a mattress in the back on top the seats for an upcoming trip. Has anyone done it or know how it's done? Thanks!
Interesting, will have to check that out! I saw another guy who did the cannonball run on his Tesla charging only off solar. He had something like 5.7kw of flexible panels in the trunk and a charge inverter. Every 2 or 3 days he would fill up and continue on his trip lol.
Yeah, the apterra...
Yeah agreed on the manufacturers including it, it would be awesome if every surface was capable of harvesting energy, I bet with the footprint of the truck the energy produced would be double or triple my setup.
Umm I plead the fifth...
I did put prices in the video then stopped counting lol
It was probably under 1k total with fridge and all before I decided to upgrade the batteries
Hey guys, excited to show off my recent project, solar panels on a tonneau cover!
Happy to answer any questions. I get 2+ kWh a day and now always have cold drinks wherever I go!
It will work you just have to manage your loads as you're already aware. Charging the truck won't work though since you can only get 7.2kw out of the outlet, in fact if you can generate more than 7.2kw of solar it would get dangerous or trip your transfer switch. Maybe you can rig something up...
When I got batteries they had to bring everything to code in my garage, they put a heat detector in, with xsense wireless interconnected smoke detectors inside the house. The electricians said a smoke detector would trip more often just because of how hot a garage can get.
Yes I also carry a portable power station when I bring these portable fridges now. Plug it into the 12v outlet on the battery, then use a USB c charger to charge up the battery. If I forget to turn on pro power the battery should still last for a while.
