Just FINALLY got our '24 Flash trim. My plan is drive it until I sell it to my kids in 10-12 years. Ditto with our first EV we bought spring last year. That's how you beat steep first 2-3 year depreciation curves, is to own it so long it doesn't matter.
My wife and I plan to take whatever...
You only keep brand new vehicles for 2 years as a general M.O?
To each their own of course, but electric or not, you are taking an absolute beating then on value then as that is the absolute steepest part of the depreciation curve
Wow, that's brutal! I think that converts to 52kw/100kms....yikes. that's 200km using 80%.... I really thought the aero shape would help more than that.
With our tent trailer I was getting 39-41 kw/100kms with our tent trailer, at about 105kmh (65mph). So about 20% better than you but going...
Tom, what was your efficiency on average with the Lightning while towing that teardrop trailer?
EDIT: I saw some range figures, but wasn't positive which trailer you were talking about. And when you say usable range, does that mean using like 80% of the battery, or?
My take on this:
In 8 years, there will be an even more established market for battery swaps. Look at all the folks turning a 2014 Leaf from a 100 mile range vehicle to a 350 mile range vehicle with a battery swap out.
Because of the above, I look at it less like "no one will want this"...
Great data, thanks! And that's all with the AT tires?
I'd be pretty stoked if I could get lifetime avgs on the lightning to be sub 26 kw/100kms efficiency. Heck even sub 28. Electrical prices here would put that at about $3-$3.50/100kms cost of fuel.
Tad bit better than the 12-13L/100km...
Wow that's wild, in cdn terms that's 4.48km per kwh...at the 131 kw capacity gives a theoretical range of 580kms, above the official one of 515kms. That's like 22.3kw/100km....which I got around town but not hwy. Good work! Based on your time and distance your avg velocity was 67mph.
When I...
Yes I agree the mass is negligible. I've even seen some you tube tests of having 1500lbs or something in the bed, with minimal aerodynamic changes, and the efficiency barely moved. Like under 10% worse.
As for the power consumption while it's on, I guess that's the real source. And as a non...
K, as a data nerd, what are you using to generate these? Is this from an aftermarket thing or is it in the ford app (which I obviously don't have yet since I don't have a truck yet)?
This is good to know because that's the configuration of this one. The 9.6kw pro power, and the AT tires. '24 flash trim
Mind if I ask what your efficiency ratings are like for like freeway speeds of say 70mph (112kmh?). And what ATs did it come with?
The one I test drove has the more base...
Hi all
Saga continues for me to actually get my hands on the lightning that I want...
But in the meantime, I have had a couple dealers tell me that they've had customers complain that purchased the max tow package. They said that the extra cooling equipment in that uses up a bit of extra...
Yea I talked to them, and found them to be a little slippery to deal with to be honest. I was talking to one sales guy who would ALWAYS respond to my emails with a completely new email, so tracking down what we were talking about, and making sure my questions were answered, was always tough...
As noted, yes we tow already with our ID4. Our trailer is a tent trailer and with the ID4, it has a vertical bike rack off the back of it....aka a giant air brake. We can get about 180-200kms between chargers with that thing, while "clean" on the highway on a trip like this, we could get about...
Hey all
My local Ford dealers here on Vancouver Island are not making the purchase process very easy, so I am thinking to buy elsewhere. Anyone have any good recommendations for Ford dealerships in BC where you have had a good experience?
Thanks
T
Hey all
To start, I do have an EV already, and with winter tires on we leave it in Regen mode all the time....but it's Regen is not a full one pedal driving as aggressive as the lightning's one pedal mode.
Have any of you found any dicey moments from winter driving in snowy/icy conditions...
They charged it to near full for me, I think it was at 99% when i got it.
Glad to hear posting this that no one else had seen it before. These EV forums are pretty handy sometimes when dealers don't have answers
Yes. It's the only flash they have on the lot here, they have one XLT, one Flash, one Lariat. Looks like a couple body panel gap issues at the front fender too that I noticed that are a rust issue waiting to happen....the two panels are touching each other, which is a recipe for paint wear...
