I'm 67 years old and have been driving in Canada since I was 15, including over 30 years as a licensed mechanic. I've owned hundreds of vehicles—everything from my first 1953 GMC truck to my beloved 1957 Chevy Bel Air—mostly in northern Alberta, where we’d get at least a month of -40°C every...
Thank you for the offer, but no thanks
I have these choices
A: Live with it and hope I don't get any tickets.
B: Load up a CC and slowly pay it off.
C: Prospon our two-month Newfoundland to Victoria excursion for another year.
or stop making payments and take the bus
It was the first time I turned on the defrost and went back into the house and that cost me $1,200
No fault of mine and everyone tells me they've never seen it before so yes I'm pissed.
I'll just drive it now and have a story to tell everyone who will listen.
I am the biggest fan of EVs you can't shut me up by giving MANY rides to everyone even strangers. Open the frunk at every store ( wife keeps her bags in there ) Most I even offer them to drive it for a short spin. Now when I talk to ANYONE I will have a different conversation.
So you are saying that it wasn't caused by the hot defrost. ok so then the glass had to be defective. I saw it before with ice cars that are running until they are warm without the heater fan on and turn on the defrost the windshield cracks
I did not say I am 80 I am 67 and thought traveling would give me the best way to spend my retirement. NOT that that has anything to do with this post.
Sorry but I feel better that I am not alone :) Yes I will know longer be raving about this truck ( yes I love it ) but I will be thinking about trading it in on something other than a Ford.
I'm point is the Dealers ( I took it to one, but called to others )and Ford could not tell me why it cracked therefore I think it had to be defective or don't use defrost on a cold windshield. If I am the only one with this problem then mine was/is defective. I do hear what you are saying, but I...
If it was a chip I would have it repaired. I windshield should not crack for no reason. An Ice car worms up slowly whereas EVs don't. That is why it cracked... it's like like pouring hot water on a frozen cup or glass it will break. Ford should know this and have the heater come on less...
Hi everyone,
I’m in a bind and could use your advice. Two weeks ago, at -7°C (19°F), I turned on the defrost in my 2023 F-150 Lightning, and within seconds, the windshield cracked. It starts at the bottom along the air vents in a U-shape and runs straight to the top.
I took it to a Ford...
