How long would the trip take with the Ram, and how much longer would it take with the Lightning -- recharging time? Serious question, I'm not trying do be a toolbag.
So, we all would like a Raptor, I reckon. But I'd consider these two non-towing considerations:
1. Parking. I work in downtown Pittsburgh ("dahntahn") and it's enough to park my F-150 XLT s-crew in a garage. With the extra width and height of a Raptor, I'd be very limited as to where I could...
I have the factory 20" Wranglers on my 2020 XLT FX4, and I have to admit, they've done great in the hilly snow & ice of southwestern PA, and on the soft sands of the Outer Banks. Pleasantly surprised.
I would have love to have seen the range before and AFTER that short hooning session. I swear when he first showed the range dial/indicator, that it was ever-so-slowly creeping down as he talked.
This is great information, thank you. I like that the mpg is similar BUT the 2.7 was 2wd and the PB is 4WD. Points to the PB. When my company returns to the office, I will resume driving on Pittsburgh’s parkways (emphasis on “park”), so I think in that environ, the PB would return better MPG...
I would love a PowerBoost F-150, but so far, on Fuelly I’m not seeing much difference in mpg between the 2.7 and the PowerBoost. I’d have a hard time justifying the price difference.
Hmmm….. that means with just one stop to “top off”, I should be able to get me & the family and a bed full of luggage/supplies from SW PA to the outer banks.
I have a 2020 F-150 screw FX4 with the 5.0… I’m tempted to look at the PowerBoost next time around, but so far I’m not seeing a big difference in MPG between that and the 2.7, in reviews and on Fuelly. Is yours 4WD? What is your normal terrain — mine is all hills. And, what MPG are you getting...
Yeah, nah. I do that drive several times a year, and my only stop is to piss. With my 36-gal tank I won’t even need to stop for fuel. I need to get there as quickly as reasonably possible. I don’t have the luxury of time to burn extra days or hotel fees lollygagging around.
For me, this is almost the perfect truck, as I don’t tow. But I do a few trips a year that would put me well past its range. So I still need to see improvements in range to at least 600 miles; or a saturation of very quick recharge stations. Almost there...
I wonder why the dealer wouldn’t do that? If I had to go aftermarket, the AMPs sound like the best bet. Any ballpark idea of what installation would run?
