Yes. Turn off lane assist on your steering wheel. It will function just like normal cc with no steering input. Or, you could just leave your hand on the wheel while in BC mode like @gtotco suggested.

I think plastidipped will work fine. I haven't done any on my truck but my V has plasti dip on the grill, side emblems and window trim. It's held up fairly well for 4 years now. I live in Houston, so our weather is somewhat similar. I will say this though, the V is not my daily driver, so...
