Got this update overnight, left for a 140 mile there and back drive this morning, with a brand new GOM showing 318 miles, navigation confidently said no charging needed on the round trip.. about halfway there it suggested 15min of charging, nice I arrived it admitted we need an hour of charging :P
That makes sense, for some reason I thought there was a separate system between the battery vs the cabin.
As to the other thing, I got the FordPass message. I'm aware of wat ford said, but I'm still going with a hard NO when I'm going to be sitting in the cab for an hour or more at 4F or...
Why would the battery be cooler with the heater running?
I assumed b would be the case, but it wasn't concerned with it, the amount of charge I missed out on wasn't supper critical, I charged for an hour and could have gotten where I needed with 45min of charging (assuming no heater loss), so...
Its probably true that the feature didn't work based on how I plugged things in and what not. But the entire truck was in the garage overnight and all day with the garage temp set to 50F. So the entire truck was 50F at departure, regardless of conditioning or not, app reported battery as 54F...
I was referring to the battery heater not the cab heater, I had the cab heat off most of the drive, just toggling it to clear fog from time to time. That said, I rather hope there isn't any potential for damage by running the cab heater when on DCFC because at 4F outside, I'm not turning the...
Good to know. Over the entire drive including when hooked up to the 50kW and 150kW chargers, the battery never got over 60F. The heater must have been running at max and barely holding its own against that 4F outside temp, if it should have been in the 80 to 90 F range when operating.
I had the departure time set in the navigation system, the battery was preconditioned. I was just adding that on top of that, it was in a heated garage, etc... Battery temp as dead center on the indicator, and according to my CarScanner apps history it was 54F, when I started out. Safe to...
After my drive in 4F yesterday I'm on board for a heater. It's not even cold her yet, I'm on the fence if I should be taking my ice truck out of storage for winter. But something like this would be pretty cool alternative.
I'm curious the logic on this one. When I was using a DCFC yesterday evening and it was 4F, I wasn't going to turn the heater off well I napped for an hour.
Is it just that it slows down the charging because your using energy or can it actually harm something?
My experience in the summer, the GOM was always under estimating. When I would make a long drive the circle of range in the direction of my target would gradually get further away. Yesterday I was watching the circle of range shrink. So in cool weather not conservative, in warm weather...
Figure this is a spot to chime in on some experience in moderate temps.
Yesterday evening, I had a 198 mile drive to do across Minnesota. I started with a 100% charge, I stopped at a charger at around 155 miles and had 2% left on my battery. When I started driving it was 8F, when I got to the...
I'm happy to share, but I'll warn you, I slightly lied when I said excel. I mean, I am using excel for the data entry, but just to add the data to a csv, the plots and analysis are done in R. Still happy to share it though.
I'm not a fan of ABRP's interface with android auto in the truck, so I never use it. I really wanted speed data to include in this but its not in the ford pass app. Some assumptions can be made based on distance, for example all the 100 mile plus drives involve freeway, but it would amount to...
Haven't logged into here in a while, but just did some review of my driving history, thought about sharing and this thread seems a good enough spot for it.
For work I used to get a gas card, which doesn't really work with the lightning, so we worked out an arrangement where I track my charging...
My dealer told me that the language was only for people using ford finance. They said they would appreciate if I didn't turning around and sell the truck right away, but wouldn't put anything on paper about it since I wasn't using ford finance.
I just got an email saying I'm pushed out to these same dates. But I took delivery on the 7th, so truck is in my garage happily charging, Ford is a little on the struggle bus it seams.
