Just to be clear, this qualification is not for "depressed housing areas". I live on the edge of a major college town, in neighborhood of over 100 homes, none of which are small or inexpensive, and we qualify.
There was no mandate...
No, don't feel betrayed. Fully expected Clownshow 47 to be more action packed than clownshow 45, mostly because they realize how the establishment didn't react appropriately during clownshow 45, and they know what they can get away with. This will culminate in Supreme...
No big deal. You give up your first borne, they get full rights with your wife (ala Braveheart), and can take back the truck at any time. Just click Accept and move on.
Yes, but no.
40 isn't enough, it heats more.
When we left home, the battery was preconditioned. It was 60.8 degrees. 1:45 later, it was 48 degrees. It had to heat up to fast charge.
1) By charging at night, the battery is already warm from driving, so the charging session is faster.
2) When on a trip, I'd rather check in the hotel, eat dinner, and then go charge and go to bed versus spending 45 minutes tomorrow morning charging when I want to be on the road.
3) Similarly...
If you open up Car Scanner, you can see the battery temp, the amperage requested, and the amperage delivered, as well as the energy going to the heater. If you turn off the heater, any energy it shows it going to the battery.
I kept losing connections as my phone battled with Android Auto...
Here's a screen from CarScanner. It shows that the HVB was just below 40 degrees at the start of the session. As the battery warms, you can see the charger power increases.
Green line is battery temp.
Blue line is charger kW.
Red line is charger amperage requested.
I should add that I experienced some other new things on this trip. Limited power availability due to cold battery - as low as 78% power, very often 91% power. That was a new one for me.
No, it's not. I just did it, and monitored it. One morning the battery was 21 degrees. After driving for 1.5 hours, it was 39.5 degrees.
It increases it, but no where near what DCFC wants.
If you have never experienced throttled DCFC, then you haven't been monitoring with Car Scanner. I...
We owned a Fusion Hybrid for 7 years, then a Fusion PHEV for 3 years. Both screamed when you were on the highway ramp coming up to speed. Both hesitated when you punched it, and had slow acceleration.
When we test drove the Mach-E in 2021, I loved it. When I drove the Lightning, and...
Farley won't be selling us our next vehicle as a result of this change in strategy. Never going back to a gas powered vehicle of any type. At this rate, our next vehicle will not be a Ford.
My 2022 does not precondition the. 10.0.1 enables it. Mach-E received this update, Lightning did not.
The first 10 minutes of a DC fast charger devote 8 to 10kW to heating the battery, and speed clicks up as you watch.
Nah. Some people drive on flat roads in warm weather. When we drive to/from Florida, the efficiency we get in Florida is significantly better than where we live.
