cruise control failure

This has happened multiple times. Driving comfortably with Bluecruise, then suddenly the "Resume Control" flashes on the screen with the associated alarm. At that point everything locks into that state. I try to turn cruise control off, and wiggle the wheel, I get OFF the freeway- nothing...
