1 year and 5 months later our build week is upon us. Good luck with the builds this week everyone!
Woohoo!

This marks the final weeks of a six year journey towards EV ownership for me... I waited in line to be the first person to reserve a Tesla Model 3 in 2016, but moved to the countryside shortly after and needed a pickup. Tried and failed to reserve an Endurance, and then a Cybertruck, then a Rivian. I even came pretty close to buying an EV Ranger, but I couldn't live without 4WD.

Anyway, my fingers are crossed. I've been let down before, clearly. I just hope my "temporary" truck holds out for another month :)

An EV Ranger, as in the one from ~25 years ago?

I think the Lightning will be a notch above that one, but I do think they're cool as far as history goes. People are still surprised at vehicles being all-electric, now (asking questions that indicate they don't quite understand that it's ALL electric, for instance), but imagine if you told someone in 1998 that your Ranger was all-electric?!

Good luck folks, as a reminder, if you're sharing your build data on the forums official tracker, remember to post updates as you reach major land marks, posting updates only require the user name you originally shared with and the specific elements that require updating, no need to reinput all the data.

Use the Change Request Form for any changes to your order info.

Yeah! Exactly. There's a guy in Eugene, Oregon who retrofits them with lithium ion. Pretty sure the max range he can get them up to is around 120 miles, but it's not exactly cheap for what you get. Plus, they're all 2WD (though built on a 4WD chassis).

If I had the room for a 'fun' car, I'd still consider it. I love that late 90s/early 2000s ranger styling.

Cool!

A Ranger "Splash" edition (bright color + flareside) retrofitted with a decent amount of power would be a fun little truck!

Don't know if this is an effective strategy but with the short turnaround in prior weeks I locked in my interest rates before the fed hikes them again on the 1st. 60 day lock at FedChoice FCU at 2.74/60 months (Found it on this spreadsheet that the LeaseHacker guys use: ). I'll be sweating the delivery but they will fund with a signed PO / title application from the dealer so as long as your dealer is willing to help it is a pretty good rate. No idea on customer service, etc. but with inflation as it is a 2.74% rate is killer; makes little sense to pay cash.

How did you get 2.74? I just see 3.24 on the website. Also, how was the sign up process?

There is a note in that spreadsheet of a new member discount of 1% but the forums reported it as .5% so I figured I'd give it a shot (rate was good even without it). I started at the lowest rate in that spreadsheet and went up looking for a 60 day lock on the rates and FedChoice was the winner. Application was easy but, strangely they don't note the rate in their approval so I had to call in and have them send it via message. Website /portal isn't cutting edge but all I cared about was a rate near 3% and that 60 days before the funding rate is raised to 3% to 3.25% next week and we'll all be chasing 4% rates.

Thanks for the info, I’ll be looking into that myself. That rate is much lower than anything I find at my local credit unions. I’ll have to take a chance with the 60 day lock as well.

Any chance for a link to this spreadsheet? Looks like it could be very helpful.
