I'm preparing to order a 2021 Regular cab, 122"wb and I will be using it to tow a 4500lb travel trailer. I want the 2.7L ecoboost but my dealer says that only comes with the 3.55 axle in that cab config. The 2021 Ford towing guide shows the spec for a Regular cab 122"wb 2.7L with the 3.73 axle but when I try to build it and choose the 3.73 axle it forces me to the 3.3L V6 engine. The build tool also shows that the reg cab 122" wb can have the 3.73 and ecoboost (when clicking on the info for the 3.73 axle) but it wont allow me to choose it.
I think this combination was allowed in 2020. Per the towing specs, the 3.3L with 3.73 axle has more payload and towing capacity then the 2.7 with 3.55 axle but I would like the ecoboost with 3.73.
Any thoughts on towing with the 3.3L and 3.73 axle vs 2.7L with the 3.55 axle? Also does anyone now if you can order a Regular cab, 122"wb with the 2.7L and 3.73 axle like the 2021 Ford Towing guide shows?
Thanks
