I will get an early reservation on the Silverado in order to preserve my options as delivery is dependent on numerous factors out of my control. That said, from what little we know about the Silverado, it looks like it has some nice features.

However, the reason why I even looked at an EV for my next vehicle is the emergency power back up feature. That is the most important factor in my decision. If the Silverado doesn't have something similar, then that is a deal breaker for me. The Lightning is like having multiple Tesla power walls and it is so much more practical!

The better question is if anyone is considering the Hummer? Crab steering would be a hit a parties.

The Rivian has a face only a mother could love.

I drove behind a Hummer EV pickup today for several miles that came out of the GM Milford Proving Grounds. It is one ugly truck, reminds me of one of GMs ugliest PU trucks the Avalanche. And a selling price of $90-125k is crazy, even if I had the money to waste it wont be a GM product. Have also seen a few Hummer EV SUV, looks like a stretched Toyota FJ or the old H3 which was a joke. The EV SUV Edition 1 will start at $106,000.00

I totally agree with this. But I’ll be reserving a Sierra.

As an early reservation holder (10 minutes into the event), I plan on continuing with the Lighting, but with a three-year lease since it will be the first real all electric full-size truck. After the lease is up, whichever truck has the best toys on both the inside and out will be my next truck. Based on toy comparison right now, it just might be a GM. (digital rearview, heads up display, tailgate, etc)
In a similar situation here of getting a reservation 5 minutes into the event as the extended range of 300 miles and $40k starting price indicated the right value was there. With towing a trailer 10% of the time, I would prefer the greater range and quicker charging capability that will be available in the GM product down the road (I expect Ford to address this in their 2nd generation Lightning after three years). This has me considering exactly what you are planning of leasing for three years to allow the market and supply to settle out further for making an upgrade prior to retirement. GM has not provided their expected launch window, but even an early 2024 launch is going to put it ~18 months later with the GMC version another 6-12 months later.

One thought I have on the Silverado (and GM EVs in general) is that they have used up their EV tax credits. As a result, GM will push that much harder for the proposed EV rebate/credit so they won't have to compete with Ford on pricing. With the current law, I can get $10000 in tax credits (fed and Colorado).

Whoever gets me my truck for under $50k gets the money. I won’t be keeping more than 3 years anyway.

The Hummer rollout has been painfully slow. I don't expect the Silverado to be that much better.

And with the upcoming feature "Intelligent Power" for reducing your Electric Bill by not taking power from the grid at peak, and then using off-peak to recharge the truck, it makes it even more of a win.

I am sad in a way that we don't have peak power bills where I live, because that would be a pretty big savings.

I need a teuck that looks and operates like a truck. The Silverado looks and operates like an Avalanche. I like the Avalanche, it has its place.

I'm just curious what you need to do with a truck that you couldn't do with an avalanche?

Not me, but side loading (for gravel, dirt, etc.) could be a challenge on the Silverado with those wings. Bed tool boxes may also be an issue.
