Update on DC fast-charging debacle - still no resolution or fix

Took to the dealership and they were not able to do anything. They said that my truck now has a recall out on it and Ford is telling them it needs an update to fix it but has not released the update. We are waiting on them to contact us when Ford releases said update to them. We are thinking it's more of a connection issue with the charging port vs what they are saying but we shall see.

That stinks, here's hoping Ford doesn't drag their feet on this.

I have a 24 Flash that wont DC fast charge. Taking to the dealer today for the second time.

Although, my issue is a bit different. I can't initiate a DC fast charge. Getting charge fault errors. I Have tried numerous different DC fast chargers and several different networks - EA, EVGO, Tesla, and Chargepoint. Along with the 'charge fault' errors, I am getting 'powertrain malfunction' errors, Pro power range is below reserve setting' - which isn't true my pro power reserve is set down to 10 miles of range and my state of charge is around 40 to 50 percent when attempting to DC fast charge. I get both solid red rings, and flashing red rings when trying to DC fast charge. I have had successful charging sessions prior to the problem. The actuator pin looks to be intact and not loose.

First trip to dealer they didn't find or repair anything. Second attempt today. Hopefully the issue gets addressed.

Let us know what you find out. Our dealer wants to do an update that is for the destination charger location in the navigation but has nothing to do with our charging issue. We are able to charge via Tesla chargers and our home level 2 chargers with zero issues so we are holding off until they test the update on other trucks.

Still unable to DC fast charge here. The dealer replaced a part on my truck- I can't remember the exact name but the part regulated the DC flow to the battery. This did not fix the problem. they think now it might be the on board charger. The part is backordered so I won't know for weeks if this is the issue. I will update when I can. AC level 2 charging is still working fine.

Thank you for the update. Do you have the Tesla adapter? If so have you tried that as well with no luck DC fast charging? If not see if you can find one to try out to buy one and try. Ours works only on Tesla chargers though.

Yes, I have A2Z typhoon. It doesn't charge on Tesla supercharger system either. Although, I have used Tesla supercharges with the adapter in the past and was able to charge successfully before this issue arose.

I had similar issues a couple months ago on a 23 SR XLT with the red ring, charge error, power train malfunction. Pin was fine in the charge port actuator but they finally replaced it and that fixed the problem. I'm guessing there is a stepper motor or proximity sensor that is not reading that the pin is down and locking the latch. Just something that might be the issue.

So you are able to DCFC with the magic dock or Tesla adapter on a Tesla supercharger but not CCS1 DC Fast chargers?

yes we can charge on a Tesla charger with no issues using an adapter. Haven’t tried a magic dock yet but assume that would work as well.

We tested over 12 different ccs chargers in different towns and they all will start to charge but within 5 to 15 minutes the cord gets hot overheats and stops the charge. The first couple times we thought it was the chargers but it’s not.

Ok thanks for the info. I thought it might be the charge port actuator at first before I took it to the dealer. However, I inspected it, saw it it still in place, it was not loose, and the dealer didn't diagnose it as the problem, so I had ruled it out. Good to know that could still be the issue.
