Bluecruise - stop and go traffic

I tried BC a time or two here on the Tollway in full traffic and it did pretty well in stop and go. That has been a year or two ago on a '22. Maybe newer versions don't handle it as well.

Where did you charge in OK? I was Northbound on 35 Thursday morning and SB Friday afternoon. I always use the Francis charger at the Davis exit on 35. The first station I try doesn't always work. This week station 1 worked well and I used it both going up and coming back. I travel to the middle of OK - about a 200 mile trip.

I rarely see another Lightning, but did see two Cybertrucks on the road this trip. They have a Supercharger in Ardmore, but it is an older v2, expanded to v3. We don't have access to it.


Edit. - sorry, nevermind - I see in your other post you came up 35, but in Dallas went North on 75 - we took different routes.

Yes Dennison. Always. I don’t DCFC in OK anymore. 35 to Dallas, 75/69 to Tulsa. I park on the curb across from the first cabinet. We were lucky on the way up as they were all in use except that first one. Without it Francis CCS takes at least an hour or two more because their chargers are slow and inconsistent. The Turnpike is where BC did the best as it was vacant.

I used the Denison charger when I had my Tesla, but after getting the Lightning I have to move back to 35 as those CCS chargers up 75 are challenging. I go right to the middle of OK and it it almost identical mileage if I go 35 or 75, but I end up about 60 miles of 2 lane road after getting off 35 or 75.

Where do you charge after Denison to make it to Tulsa? That has always been a dry stretch for even Tesla's. They need a charger in McAlister in the worst way.

I use BC in horrific Washington DC area stop and go traffic on the highway every single day, every morning and every afternoon. It could be 30 minutes or more of stop and go traffic. It maintains a following distance which is perfectly reasonable and not some gigantic gap. My follow distance is set for 2, except in the rain i set it for 3.

I don't know what you did wrong, and not enough information is provided to figure it out. I'm guessing you didn't have the speed set high enough to keep up. Try again.

I don’t fully trust BC on an interstate at 70 with light traffic. I can’t believe anyone uses it in congested traffic.
Especially not on the DC beltway. 3 car lengths? A semi will cut in in front of you.

I use BC in stop in go all the time on 95 south/north in MA and it generally works. However there is one flaw you must be careful with. It’s the kind of stop and go where everyone picks up speed again (50mph+) and then traffic comes to a complete standstill abruptly down the road. With your human eyes you can see traffic has completely stopped from some distance away but the truck does not. It’s too far ahead for the sensors. So it continues barreling ahead at 50-60mph+ towards a stopped vehicle right up until the radar picks up there’s a dead stop ahead and then the truck very abruptly slows down risking you getting rear ended and potentially hitting the car in front of you. Long story short, in those moments I take over.

I use BC all the time here on CA’s stretch of US 101. I love its response in stop and go traffic, whenever I have a new passenger I’m always bragging.. “the truck just did all that”. Never had it leave any strange space between me and the car in front.

Forgot to mention, I had it on one bar. I’ll update my original post.

Just used it yesterday on backed up I75 traffic... worked well, normally I set to 2 bars so that it evens things out however you have to accept people will cut in front of you thinking they will gain a car length.. the fun of that is usually right after they cut over the lane they were in speeds up.. as it is said "vengeance is mine saith the Lord"

A full year of daily experience completely negates your baseless opinion from hundreds of miles away. Sorry, you're wrong.

80mph on I-70. Works quite fine and has never done anything stupid or frightening. I know the curves BC will not work on and my hand is on the wheel before it honks at me. Everyday, twice a day, still alive.

Amazingly no semis have ever cut in front of me. And rarely do cars cut in front of me. It's almost as if you have no clue what you're talking about...

My 3 month trial ends in 2 days. Not sure I’ll renew unless they push the upgrade I believe I only have 1.1 bc. If they have a higher newer bc, why don’t they push it out, especially with a paid subscription. I’m sure they will sell more if they upgrade the software.

We're taking our first road trip using BC in a week. I didn't even know that the BC would work in stop and go situations which we'll have in SoCal on the way to our destination. Do I need to change anything in the BC default settings to try this?

BC works great in stop and go.

I probably still won't pay for it once the trial ends. The radar-assisted cruise does most of the heavy lifting in traffic anyway and it's free forever. I'm not paying $??/mo to have the truck occasionally steer itself.
