I love the existing BlueCruise UI but I wish it would show us more, such as the cars around the vehicle or at least blind spot monitoring in the gauge cluster. With BlueCruise 1.4 coming "soon" I hope we can see an improvement in this area, especially since it's gaining 360º of perception with the update. I encountered a graphic I rarely see that I really like where everything turns red when BlueCruise asked me to resume control. This only happens when in hands-free mode and it suddenly loses all confidence (not common at all for me, I found this one spot that only triggered it one other time). Since everything turned red, it really catches your eye and I think this should be the default "resume control" graphic. Thoughts?

I’ll say YES to anything. I just want the system to be updated!!! NOW! Not SOON!!

/rant.
I too would like an update, but I have a growing suspicion they are going to leave us 1.0 folks in the lurch because they can't figure out how to push the OTA.

I wish they had figures that out before they announced it was coming to us by the end of last year. 😡

Jim set the expectations and has again failed to live up to it.

For Mach-e folks it was supposed to come last summer, so it is coming up on a year.

I second The Weatherman’s response. Have 2022 ER, 22,000 miles and no software updates since October 19 2023. I contacted Ford to confirm I have setup all appropriate controls to insure a download …..but nothing for months. Frustrating as this is core to receiving value I expect for the investment made!

I’m confident we will receive 1.4, updates have been scarce lately which makes me believe they’re working on larger updates. I heard that the update they were going to push may have been too large and they’re working on a plan to split them up, but I’m not sure if that’s true. I hope they push these updates sooner than later!

The last update I got was a few weeks ago and improved the door controls, I’m not sure why you haven’t received any updates. I always leave my Lightning connected to WiFi, that might help.

This. I am tired of being told how great BlueCruise is by media and others. My BlueCruise is terrible and borderline unusable. It is only a lane keep assist and radar cruise control for me. My 2016 Yukon had similar tech that worked far better.

If I have BlueCruise enabled, I cannot even take a drink from a cup without getting yelled at, I can only drive a few minutes before I have to return my hands to the wheel. I am not sure what the hype is all about.

Yes Willebrew, when I contacted Ford they told me to make sure WiFi is connected to get downloads. Doing that to no avail so far.

With BC enabled, I’ve turned my head away from the windshield a number of times and counted 5 seconds before the truck alerts me to pay attention. I can only speak for myself but I find 5 second to be fair considering I’m operating a moving vehicle at highway speeds.

In terms of disengagements while using BC, I find it to be entirely location dependent. Driving on the highway in the city? Much less reliable. Driving on the open interstate? I find that how long BC stays enabled is more determined by if I have to pass a slower vehicle than determined by the system’s competence. Once again, I can only speak for myself but BC is something I greatly value on a road trip and not driving in a metropolitan area so it meets my expectations.

@Willebrew

did you hear (read) this on the internet?
Then it must be true
No, I heard it from a rep on the phone. I’ve called them a few times and they seem like they know more about what’s going on now than before, which is somewhat reassuring.

I have the same complaint about the micro timing before getting yelled at.
