So this is a minor UI thing. Just putting it out there for hopefully Ford to pick up on. Recorded this as a suggestion in the screen too I think.

Anyways, when I’m coming home from the city and I’ve less miles of charge available than to a DCFC. these alarms pop up. Even though in the app, I have both my work and home charger so it should know that there is chargers available to me yet it alarms me anyways.

1st) IMO. Dont use Ford's horrible NAV unless you absolutely have to for the DCFC precondition. I personally dont DCFC much but have done it a handful of times in colder (not frigid) conditions and never noticed charge throttling without using Ford NAV to precondition.

2nd) You are correct, this should be basic logic. I posted on here about that after one of my longer trips where I rolled into my house at 8% as I knew I would based on basic math. Good on you for actually doing the screen suggestion, I should do that more.

Is there a way to disable the Ford nav I’m not aware of? I’m still on the free trial. But use Apple Maps anyways on my phone

Known issue they should fix based on feedback that they've encouraged users to submit.

1) My charge location is know by my Fordpass app and my account. Add it to my Trucks NAV for my user profile.

2) If they are not smart enough to do that, let users manually add chargers.

Just ignore it, it's not hurting anything sitting unused. When in use it will hurt your eyes and your brain.

Just use CarPlay / Android Auto and your preferred Map App. (I use WAZE)

Of all the software issues that needs fixed, this one is way down on my list!
It is on the list though. 😁

It's a symptom of the general problem that the UX is not well thought out. There are quite a few "no brainer" features that are not included, like one time departure time or manual control of preconditioning.

I think people give Ford more blame than they are due, because they don't understand where pieces come from.

This isn't Ford's mapping software. It's a 3rd party providing it (at least the data). Ford can't just say "populate the data with Bob's charger". If PlugShare is an input, there's no one stopping Bob from adding his charger to PlugShare, and perhaps down the road they say "include private chargers", but then you'd get all of them.

If you can't figure out that with 37 miles of range left, and your home 25 miles away, that you can make it and charge at home, going back to a gas vehicle should be high on your list.

On the other programming, Ford has to go through their suppliers to get module changes made. So if a change affects 3 modules, that might be 3 different vendors. That's why things like the Lightning backing up to a trailer hitch, which in early 2023 Ford said would be there "by end of year", still isn't there a year later than promised.

Or why BlueCruise 1.X came over a year late to the Mach-Es (and why 2023 Lightnings are getting 1.4 and Mach-Es are not yet).

I'm not saying Ford shouldn't be doing more, but people make it seem like it's Alvin in his basement with a box of Fruit Loops and he can program it tomorrow.

I think I give Ford an appropriate amount of blame. 😁 They are the ones who made the decisions to outsource development, knowing full well that it leads to maintenance headaches down the road. I do have a software background.

Yes the software is mostly usable and I don't regret getting the truck for a minute. Yes it could and should be improved.

We have to go through the rigmarole of setting up a home charging location if we want to charge less than 90%, so the software could certainly handle this scenario. The Kia is a little worse, it will automatically route you to a charger without telling you - which is not a big deal except that it changes the ‘miles to destination’ which can be a bit concerning if you are running close to the edge.

It is really past time for the automakers to get their act together with respect to charging. They have made great strides towards providing information that helps our insurance companies change their rates, so they could spend a little time on something useful for their actual paying customers.

Hello! Send us a private message with your VIN and current mileage. Allow me to see what I can do to assist. Thanks!

Found this in the Map Settings while I was waiting for the kids to come out of school. I guess I can turn it off if it bothers me too much.

Keep looking, there is a setting in pro power on board that lets you adjust the energy reserve to a lower mileage, it's primary purpose is to ensure that you NOT run your truck out of energy while in generator mode, adjust this setting from 50 miles to 10 miles it will also affect the navigation warning IIRC, select a value & irritation balance so that your not caught dead on the road.
