Update:
Yesterday I opened and closed the frunk (making sure nothing impeded the closing).
I also cycled the climate settings on the Sync 4 control panel. First on to off, then back to on. Then I changed from Auto to Last Used Settings.
After making these changes, I was able to remote start the climate. And, the heat cycled on this morning per my scheduled start time. I noticed it had missed a few days this past week.
I really doubt the frunk had any impact, but I did it anyway. I do think that the cycling the climate controls was what made this all work.
Everything is working well now.
P.S. I wish I had isolated the experiment and done the frunk operation (open then close) and tested the remote start)
