Custom steel top & weight considerations

Hey F150’s,

I want a Caravan Camper Top (Reno, NV) made for my STX Super Crew 5.5. My STX has the 2.7L and according to the door jam has about a 1700 pound payload capacity. The Caravan Camper Top weighs about 500 pounds. Should I be concerned about the weight? The Caravan may eliminate the need for a leveling kit.

I had a Caravan Camper Top made for my 1993 Nissan king cab SEV6 in 1993. That truck had substantially less hp & torque than my F-150 and had zero issues with weight. I can’t recall payload capacity.

I don't think it would be a problem since you are still in spec. You'd still have 1200 lbs for people and whatever accessories you have.
