Went there checked the truck out was ready to purchase, they came out asking 15k over msrp so roughly 95k for a Lariat Er max tow with no bed liner. Big waste of time but I have my order for mine with Dana and manager assured me I have a signed contract to purchase mine for MSRP. Fingers crossed!

I believe others were told the same. I’ve heard they didn’t ADM Mach-e customer orders so hopefully you’re good to go.

If that’s the case, can’t really be upset with them, for people who don’t have an order that’s the premium they have to pay

It certainly doesn’t help build relationships as these deals are very transactional. However, that’s the current environment whether we like it or not.

If this doesn’t work out I’ll buy another Tesla Model X. I should find out in the next couple weeks.

We may well find Ford dealers getting harsh with EV buyers, as Ford is saying they will go direct in future, and EV's don't support the profitable service side like ICE vehicles do. They may just see us as a one time transaction, and are largely correct.

The Ford Dealer we reserved and bought our, MachE, our Bronco, our MachE GTPE, and now Lightning has sold 9 additional Ice units, new and used based on their treatment and business ethics to 8 people whom would have never driven 2 hours and One state nalong with 7 Ford dealers in between our Air Force Base and them. Word of mouth and reputation are long term returns on relationship investment. Dealers are making record profits since 2019.

What other plausible reason would cause multiple trucks to be abandoned by customers so quickly?
There is another reason I can imagine. These abandoned trucks could have been early 'Ford rules-legal' dealer prioritization orders from customers or employees who were less than enthusiastic about their orders, so to speak . A small to medium sized dealer could be looking at a few of these trucks arriving before their reservation customer orders start flowing in.

Their will no doubt be some who embrace the change, but many will fall back on their base instinct to sell at whatever the cost. Those will be the dealers that fail.

I hope the dealer I bought from doesn’t receive any more Lightnings. They added $10k after I placed my order. I couldn’t move the order either. Mike Levine tried to help out but was essentially told, it’s the dealers truck and if I don’t agree to their terms, it’s theirs to price at whatever they want. Luckily for me the ether I bought when I placed a reservation for a CT and sold when I placed my Lightning order, it made the ADM equivalent to about $450.
I’ll happily order directly from Ford and bypass a dealer’s ADM.

The dealer prioritization process only applies to reservations holders. Dealers couldn't prioritize somebody without an existing reservation, so all the people who got prioritized were interested customers who placed a reservation long before prioritization occurred.

Why would somebody place a reservation and then not but it? Although this does happen sometimes, the odds of it happening multiple times on that dealer's first shipments are tiny.

Anybody given the chance to be one of the first buyers, even if they change their mind, would simply flip it for a profit instead of abandoning their truck.

When the dealer puts in a bunch of fake orders and then prioritizes them to get trucks on the lot.

Theory #2: The economy has changed dramatically since 5/19/21. The low price range variants were gone before the end of Wave 2, IIRC. Pretty much the only thing available started around $75,000. They may have converted their reservations to an order price range they cannot afford.

Why don't they flip it? They can't get enough money to get it off the lot.

Other than inflation the economy has not changed all that much. With the recent huge Fed interest increase it will change, and might soon impact car and home sales, which is the plan. So we may see your theory come true, but not yet.

Bear market for the major equity indexes and certain bond markets as well.

Not sure about car loan rates but mortgage rates have already quickly increased over the past few weeks
