What going on yall. Later this month Im making my first multi charge trip. From Union City, TN (northeastern corner of the state) to Atlanta, GA. Any recommendations for chargers in the ATL area? I’ll be going to Dunwoody (work) and then near the midtown (play) areas. I have my typhoon NACS to CCS adapter and almost 250kW in EA credit.
I’m also open to charger recommendations along I-24, I-69, and I-75. Thank in advance.

I still don't have an adapter so don't have any experience with Superchargers in the area but had no issues with the Barrett Place EA station (off 75) at 860 Cobb Place Boulevard NW, Kennesaw, Georgia 30144. There's a First Watch a short walk across the parking lot that was a great spot for breakfast.

You might want to also get a level 2 Tesla to generic Ev adapter. Many hotels have free Tesla level 2 chargers, but you need an adapter and the Level 3 adapter won’t work.

My recommendation is to try charging at each of the charging station operators at least once before you leave if you can. This way, you aren't struggling to figure out how to get the charge started while on the road.

You may have already done this, but I get frustrated each time I have to try a new charging company... Can I use a CC? Do I need an app? Is it plug and charge?

It hasn't been a problem for me, but the family can get impatient. ;-)

I try to try any new ones that I can. When I got the truck I think I looked through most routes from west Tennessee to south Louisiana (family) and downloaded every app of 50+kW station to get ready. You’re right it’s interesting to us but the wife does not find it nearly as exciting especially when it’s not straight forward (Looking at you Francis Energy).

When I read your response, I thought to myself "I miss the east coast"... Then I read "western TN". How is the charging situation where you are? Desert Southwest can be tough if you don't plan accordingly. If a charge station is down, you're gonna have a bad time.

If you do not already have it, the ABRP (A Better Rout Planer) App is a must for navigating longer trips. I've made multiple trips from Birmingham to Baltimore for work and have rarely had an issue with the route planning and charging stop suggestions from that app. You can even filter out specific chargers if you don't like certain locations. (I filter out any stations I stop at that don't have bathrooms)

I have done several long distance hauls with my 2023 Lightning Lariat ER which now has about 56,000 miles on it since 1/6/23 - it’s a great road tripper, here are some of our drives from SE Pennsylvania:

  • First week we drove to West Palm Beach Florida (pre NACS) - no real issues with EA down 95 corridor.
  • Summer 2023 to Lexington, VA for a week while my daughter competed in East Coast Arabian Horse Championships (no, did not trailer the horse with our truck - but we could have).
  • December 2023 - Drove to Detroit, MI to meet with our friends on the Ford Model-E team and visit the Ford Archives and The Henry Ford (museum).
  • February 2024 drove to Chicago, IL for a meetup with the Ford Model-E team at the Chicago Auto Show.
  • First all NACS Trip - July 2024 - Drove to Oklahoma City, OK to watch my daughter compete in Arabian Horse Youth Nationals. Drove to Effingham, IL where we stayed overnight there and back. I used ABRP to exclusively route me to Tesla Superchargers.

I highly recommend ABRP - and if you have a Bluetooth OBD Dongle configured for the Lightning ABRP can communicate with that OBD device and provide even more accurate routing. ABRP also incorporates wind data along your route into its GOM and I think it’s the only one to do this so far. The other thing I like about ABRP is that - for your next charging station it will have a circle divided into segments one representing each charging post at your next stop and updates dynamically when they are in use or open for you to use - really helps to see this dynamically change as you are approaching the next charge stop.

I am hoping @Ford Motor Company starts to incorporate some of these features into it’s own navigation sometime in the future.

Enjoy the ride!
