Hey guys, I’m trying to size some new tires and wheels for my stock Lightning and I noticed that my front wheels don’t seem to be centered in the wheel well, being more forward. I have about 4k miles on the truck and haven’t hit any curbs or potholes or anything that would cause an alignment issue. This forward “offset” would cause a slightly larger tire to rub in the front when turned, but wouldn’t if it were centered.

Is it supposed to be like this? Is there something I can adjust to move the hub assembly back on both sides a bit to center the wheel?

Sorry for the noobie questions. I googled this for a couple hours to the best of my abilities and couldn’t find a good answer.

I doubt there is anything you can change .... with in reason.

Its all based on geometry of the suspension setup. I am no engineer, but thinking that under hard braking actions, the vehicle body may squat forward just slightly. In that scenario, the wheel may then be centered in the wheel well. Just a thought.

Well, I’m trying these on for size and you can see the problem (yeah, probably should get a slightly smaller size). I’m installing Eibach Pro Truck shocks this weekend that can adjust up to a 2.6” lift in the front, which should give me enough clearance though. I just didn’t want to lift the truck any if I could get away with it. I’d prefer to drop the back 2” to level the rake rather than lift the front. If the wheel were more centered in the wheel well I think it would work without a lift.

You also need to be mindful of the rim offset. I installed new rims with the same size Lariat tires and an offset of about an inch more than stock. With the offset, the clearances are about as tight as you'd want to go when turning lock to lock.
