My truck is a ER xlt. All modules fully up to date as of Friday. Hit the Bourbon trail in Kentucky Saturday and on the way home stopped at a EA 150 kw charger and had the charger hold max rate for a longer period than I have experienced or expected. Stopped early to help someone else out. Charged from 31%-61% in 16 minutes. Charge rate went pretty much straight up to 150 kWh and slowly bumped up to 164 kWh and held the entire time. I have only DC fast charged a few times and only what I need to get to the next stop. Don’t remember a charge rate chart holding max rate that long. I could be wrong

I agree, that speed at 61% is highly unusual.

Wow, the numbers on the screen cross check pretty closely for a 131KW ER pack, but I've never seen mine ramp that high at that SOC.

BTW, your profile vehicle list is a bit confusing

Maybe the latest update fattened the charging curve? My truck has 12k miles and that was only my 4th DC fast charge. I know my wife’s MachE doesn’t hold peak rate for 1/2 that time.

I've consistently seen the same on my ER at an EA charger in upstate NY. It is(was) with that exact charger model you show in the picture. EA has since "upgraded" the charger to a newer style with a smaller screen and different interface with fancy LED lighting, and my peak is about 3/4 of what it was. 2 Steps forward, 3 steps back?
It held pretty high (>90) until 80% then it dropped like a cliff as expected.

Even monkeys fall out of trees. This seems pretty rare for EA but it happens :)

I've gotten 182kw a couple of times on EA (as indicated on the EA device). Is this the max?

Don't think I've ever gotten over 150kW from a 150kW EA charger. I've only seen 160+ when using their 350kW option.

From charge session yesterday. The charge rate dropped when SOC hit 80% but I was drinking a coffee and no one at other 3 chargers. All were rated 150kW. But 86kWh in 40 minutes ain’t too bad.

So I tend to agree they updated the charge curve. I was traveling up to Vermont Friday night and stopped at the EA off the NY Thruway in Kingston. I set the charger location in the GPS so I would be preconditioned. It was a 350kw charger. I arrived at 20% charge and charged to 81%. From 20% thru 50%, it was charging mostly between 160-170kw with a peak of 178kw. Didn't get below 154kw that I saw during that time. At 50%, it started to drop down but was between 120-140 till 80%. At 80% it dropped down to 45kw. I was at 20% to 80% in 34 minutes, with the 1% more taking another 3 minutes. My average charge speed was 137kw per minute.

Hit the same charger on the way back yesterday. Preconditioned once again, and got there at 49%. This time from 49% to 70% (didn't watch as closely) it was mostly between 150-160kw again with a max of 188kw per the app. Dropped down to the 120-140kw range from 70% to 80% and down to 45kw over 80%. I charged to 85% so I didn't need another stop on my way home, and my average charge rate over that session was 120kw. I was pretty impressed with both of these.

So possibly some of the OTA updates we got improved the charging curve? You would think Ford would want to advertise this, but who knows. All I know is both sessions went well, so I can't complain. That hasn't been my history with EA in the past.

Great, were these results from the 350 KW terminals?

Yes, both were 350kw Terminals. Pretty sure all they have is 350KW terminals there actually (per EA app). Both times another vehicle was charging. Pretty sure it's a newer station because when I went up to Vermont this summer, it didn't come up as a charging option.

All the logs I have seen any where near 60% charge only hold max rate for around 10% of charging. They have had to have fattened the max charge curve if mine held max rate for 30%. I wish I had let it charge longer to see where it started dropping off.

Perhaps Tom from State of Charge should retest the charge curves. I would love it if this was in fact an update from Ford.
