Be careful using a battery charger as a power Supply. The boost modes are not designed for hours of continuous output at the rated 50A. Most times it’s only 15-30 min and it’s not supplying a steady state of voltage or amperage.

IPMA updates can be 1.5-3.5 hours depending on your VCI speeds so I would not recommend any one use a charger in boost mode for flashing modules in FDRS

I'm very indecisive on what power supply to get. I've got about $100-$150 budgeted at the moment. Otherwise it'll have to wait until xmas shopping is done so I can see what damage that did.
The one above I shared is $149. I like it cause it just does what it needs to and that’s boost up the amperage. I’ve used it several times on my truck as well as other trucks that I’ve updated. Works like a champ and it’s simple.

That’s a good caution but I’ve had really good luck with the one I shared above. I have used it several times for well over 2 hrs doing ipma etc. updates. And it actually is very stable with output. I have put my meter on it and watched it and it it’s pretty solid. Does not get overheated. Now at the 250 amp mode yeah that’s only for quick starts. I normally leave on the 50 or 25 depending on voltage which I watch pretty close.

Go to the FDRS CLEAR & RETEST menu and select ALL DTCs and clear them all, then retest. You might have to do this twice.

You'll know that FDRS is clearing and re-testing because the screen will show three horizontal gray circles completing retesting, like clock face edges.

BTW as I remember You'll have to have the truck ON, either in Key On Engine Off or all the way ON during this function... I've done this so many times since 2022 that it's just muscle memory for me haha and I can't remember the exact screen layout anymore.

I have done a clear and reset a few times no change. I was told to disconnect the negative on the 12V for a bit then reconnect and try again...

Disconnecting the negative on the 12V can help, will not hurt... it resets "hung" modules. I've done it once in all my FDRS updates on several cars and trucks.

Sometimes there are DTC set that a particular update fixes. I had an issue where it wouldn’t clear the PSCM codes until the ipma and pscm modules were updated. Whatever was in the newer version fixed it. If you had a real serious DTC set that wouldn’t let the truck get into its programming mode the update would prob hang and or freeze.
FYI if FDRS ever freezes or logs out mid update don’t panic it’s good at recovering where it left off. I have had multiple freezes and server issues whilst updating and you can always recover out of it.

I had an issue like that on the IPC. After I cleared and retested and nothing changed, I tried running the update. FDRS indicated I needed to run the PMI tool on the module so I did. The module was green after. FRDS basically made me act like I replaced the module with the new module.

Well day one of attempting FDRS did not turn out with any updates being installed.

As I posted earlier when it ran it was found that there was 3 modules (APIM, GWM, TCU) with a DTC code of U3000 57 0B

Doing some research online I found the following text:

"The presence of this DTC means that an engineering analytic token is present on the vehicle. This analytical token does not affect module functionality or features used by the customer. No attempts should be made to repair this DTC."

When I read this it made me remember I did some testing with Ford and the Home Intergration Kit. They had me go into a diagnostic sync menu and enable an Advanced Analytics Token.

I wonder if I still have that setting on and if the presence of that token is the cause of this "issue"

One thing to try would be to completely exit out of FDRS start and stop your truck maybe even drive it come back to it and hook everything back up and try again.

I did shutdown multiple times, reset the test, and even unhooked the negative 12V terminal for a little while
